Gaussian Mixture Models
Hey,
Dose R include some package for Gaussian Mixture Model data generation and
parameters estimation?
Now I want to assign lots of multivariate data into a GMM model.
So just wondering if given sample data, can we use
some functions to estimate the compoents' density
function.
Thanks for your support.

Convert components of a list to separate columns in a data frame or matrix XXXX
...amp; simpliest way to convert all components of a
list to separate columns in a matrix?
Is there an easy way to programmatically "pad" the length of the resulting
shorter character vectors so that they can be easily combined into a data
frame?
I have the following code that stores the 2 compoents (of differing
lengths) in the same character vector:
more<-c('R is a free software environment for statistical computing',
'It compiles and runs on a wide variety of UNIX platforms')
result<-strsplit(more,' ')
result
mode(result)
class(result)

windows such as the My computer and the contol panels will be replaced

Random Effects Model
Hello,
I am new to R, and I am trying to figure out how to use it for a
random effects model. I am using version 2.4.0, and I also have the
book Applied Linear Regression by Sanford Weisberg.
I have four variables: Swimmer, Sex, Swim, and Difference. Swimmer
identifies the number assigned to a particular person. Sex is
male/female. Swim identifies the number swim from 1 to 6. Difference

R versus SAS: lm performance
Hello,
A collegue of mine has compared the runtime of a linear model + anova in SAS and S+. He got the same results, but SAS took a bit more than a minute whereas S+ took 17 minutes. I've tried it in R (1.9.0) and it took 15 min. Neither machine run out of memory, and I assume that all machines have similar hardware, but the S+ and SAS machines are on windows whereas the R machine is Redhat
