new laptop: DVD or Blu-ray
One of the build options for a laptop I'm looking at buying is DVD vs Blu-Ray. I've never used Blue-ray before, so is there some compelling reason, as a Linux guy, to want to get Blu-ray?

dm-multipath use
Are folks in the Centos community succesfully using device-mapper-multipath? I am looking to deploy it for error handling on our iSCSI setup but there seems to be little traffic about this package on the Centos forums, as far as I can tell, and there seems to be a number of small issues based on my reading the dm-multipath developer lists and related resources. -geoff Geoff Galitz Blankenheim

[LLVMdev] Any objections to my importing GoogleMock to go with GoogleTest in LLVM?

Worth upgrading desktop to 5.1?
I am using CentOS 5.0 on my desktop workstation. Are there any deeply compelling reasons to upgrade to version 5.1? I read through the release notes but didn't see any whiz-bang new features. Perhaps some of you can share your personal experience letting us know if you have noticed any differences, etc.

Choosing a samba version for DC use
Do people have any recommendations on which Samba version to choose for production use, as a domain controller and authentication database for 802.1x only? (i.e. no file sharing) I note that: * CentOS 7 comes with samba 4.2.10 - labelled as "do not use" on https://www.samba.org/samba/history/ !! * Ubuntu 16.04 comes with samba 4.3.11 (although 4.3.12 exists) The Ubuntu/4.3.11

extending liveness of 'this' pointer via FAKE_USE opcode
Hello! At Sony we've seen some serious customer interest in having the 'this' pointer visible throughout an entire function during debugging. However, optimizations may eliminate it after its last use, so we've been looking for a way to artificially extend its liverange to the end of the function. So far, the most compelling way we can think of, and one we have used successfully

v1.1.20 vs v1.2 & v2.0
I am currently running v1.1.20 and was wondering if there is any compelling reason to upgrade to v1.2 or v2.0? For example is there any security updates in v1.2 or v2.0 that aren't included in v1.1.20? The other major thing I would be interested in knowing is there any speed enhancements in the newer versions? I am using basic PAM Auth and Maildir mailboxes on a Linux box. Let me know

Any compelling reasons to upgrade to 5
Just popped back on the list because I was curious about this. I've read the information about virtualization and other new features. I'm just wondering (as someone who installed CentOS 2 years ago and basically hasn't thought much about it my OS other than using it since then) if any piece of it except for virtualization got updated significantly enough to consider an upgrade. My

[OT] Best Blog + Wiki opinions?
Hello all, I''m looking for suggestions for integrated Blog + Wiki (Bliki) apps. I''d prefer Rails, I want to hear opinions on all options! I''ve browsed through W:Bliki <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bliki>. Nothing in that list is immediately compelling. This is for my wife, who is not a technologist, and has a need to create a information-centric website.

RFC: Reconsidering adding gmock to LLVM's unittest utilities
A long time ago I suggested that we might want to add gmock to compliment the facilities provided by gtest in LLVM's unittests. It didn't go over well: 1) There was concern over the benefit vs. the cost 2) Also concern about what the facilities would look like in practice and whether they would actually help 3) At the time, I didn't have good, large examples of what these things might
