Newbie Question: Xen Server & Linux Xen Dom0 Differences and a usage query
...achines on it, in addition to installing my desktop machine in domU, essentially getting my desktop machine plus a few servers on the workstation itself, using Xen. Not using RDP or other remote protocols to view the desktop machine, get it on the xen machine locally. Target is to virtualize & commoditize applications, e.g. my workstation has an instance of postgreSQL running and another of TinyDNS and I would like to virtualize them into seperate servers, to be commoditized for any machine that requires them. Comments & Critique of approach wanted. Shoestring budget. With best regards. San...

cointegration test
Dear All, I am looking for a cointegration relationship between Spot and Future Price of commodites. The problem i am facing follows: 1. After estimating by Engle-Grranger Method, i found that the residuals are stationary at their level I (o), which is required to fulfill the cointegration test. But the autocorrelation problem arises, as DW statistics is signficantly low 0.50-0.88 for various...

TCP/IP Settings
Hi everyone, I am currently converting my AoE/GFS setup over to GlusterFS. So far I have been very impressed with Gluster and am loving it's ease of use. I wrestled with GFS for days, and still do too much IMO. ;) I had a question about TCP/IP settings. I know Infiniband as interconnects would give us the best performance, but we currently do not have the budget to upgrade everything, so I

http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/pulpit20050512.html interesting comment this week about the Xbox - any intelligent thoughts here? I know the price point puts it above most users Asterisk outlay (I run mine on a $100 P3 -800) But interesting to see what happens if people start running video conferencing etc on their home asterisk servers, and lets face it where else can you buy this

gluster over infiniband....
Hey guys, I am running gluster over infiniband, and I have a couple of questions. We have four servers, each with 1 disk that I am trying to access over infiniband using gluster. The servers look like they start okay, here are the last 10 or so lines of a client log (they are all identical): 2008-10-07 07:18:40 D [spec.y:196:section_sub] parser: child:stripe0->remote1 2008-10-07 07:18:40 D

Unicorn future plans
Hi all, Some of you are wondering about the future of the project, especially since we''re nearing a 1.0 release. == 1.x - bugfixes and Rack-compatibility synchronization The 1.x series will focus mainly on bug fixes and compatibility with Rack as it evolves. If Rack drops the rewindability requirement of "rack.input", Unicorn will follow ASAP and allow TeeInput to be

Add/remove new server volumes on the fly?
Hi list, 1. While learning GlusterFS, I'was wondering if it's possible to add server volumes to increase space capacity of my cluster "on the FLY"? I mean, a hot upgrade. 2. Second, when using "files replicating strategy" (scheduler), is it possible to remove a server node without stopping the hole cluster (ex. hardware maintaining reasons, add more disk/ram to the
