Can't send email from my mac?
Do I need to do anything special to test the ActionMailer to make sure
it emails? I''m developing locally on my macbook pro. I made a simple
test method straight out of a book that I know works and I''m not getting
any email. Do I need to turn on a service? Open a port?
Thanks for your help.

VoIP Service Provider
Hi everyone in the asterisk community. Am new to asterisk, while doing
the installation I notice that sip.conf examples were not clear for
beginners like me so I would like to share my current working
configuration with everyone.
Swifttel.net is a new VoIP service Provider out of Georgia. Their web
site is www.swifttel.net. Currently we have service with them and it has
been a pleasant experience.

Wine Installation
...s-n-tricks/a-guide-to-wine-on-ubuntu-for-beginners.html>
I performed the following command:
sudo apt-get remove --purge wine
This appeared to uninstall wine however trying when I tried "wine --version" my
system found wine which reported version 1.2.1 still. I then performed these
commnds:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wine
This looked like it installed wine 1.2.2 but "wine --version" still reports
version 1.2.1 and running one of my Windows applications and running command
"ps ax | grep wine" shows wines...

Fwd: Re: Problem in fetching usernames of a group
Thanks Sir,
just inquisitive, because in a similar PDC configured on NT, I can have
groupnames similar to usernames. Also because this is done through a script
from web I was getting problems... however now I know it shouldnt be done so
I will have to validate that, but a similar validation or some error string
displayed from the command itself would be usefull..

smb.conf setting for file permissions?
Hi,
I have a very old version of samba on one of the boxes I'm not allowed
to update. I have a request from a user group that all the group be
allowed to edit a set of file. At the command line I 'chmod 666 $file'
and all is well. I can edit and save the file. The permissions return to
744. I want the file permissions to not be changed when someone saves
a file. What parameter can I

Xen 3.0 Status update
...e main issues:
Tools
=====
We need to complete the XenBus/XenStore switchover. Block devices are
basically done, but there''s still work to do with net, console, balloon,
hotplug, shutdown etc.
There are a bunch of small outstanding tools issues we need to address:
* sanitize all the xm commnds to give them consistent naming and
parameters
* test error paths
* split console from xend and replace control messages with XenBus (1st
part complete)
* fix output of ''xm info''
* (authentication of relocation connection)
* (option to use xm-xend connection over SSL/TCP rathe...

TCNG HTB Branching the class not working. (bug or what)
...ize the traffic. Say, priority 1 for
http traffic and priority 2 for other, each host limiting within their
allocated bandwidth.
I tried the following configuration, and also compiled without syntax
error. But it did not work. Starnge, when I looked tc files (#tcc
files.tc), it generates unusal tc commnds. I guess, its a bug on tcc
compiler or it happens to my box due to some misconfgurations?
Please look at the following example where I have a problem
[root@server traffic]# cat test1.tc
#include "fields.tc"
#include "ports.tc"
#define LANSIDE eth0
#define WANSIDE eth1

Modyfing PATH in Windows Installer for R
Just a small suggestion since Windows have a file system not designed
for command line use...
Would it be possible to add the possibility of automatically
adding/modifying the path to the R executables in the windows installer
program?

[libnbd PATCH] disconnect: Prevent any further commands
Once the client has requested NBD_CMD_DISC, the protocol states that
it must not send any further information to the server (further writes
may still be needed for a clean TLS shutdown, but that's a different
matter requiring more states).
Our state machine can prevent some of this if we have moved to CLOSED,
but that's not foolproof because we can queue commands that can't be
written

CentOS 6.0: panic installing i386 on old Acer Desktop
...a serial port.
I'll be checking that.
If someone has figured out how to capture the output in my situation
during initial system install, I'm all "ears".
The system still boots the old CentOS 4.8 (first boots in around a ...
year(?)) and I did dmidecode and a couple other short commnds that I
hope is enough for someone to offer further direction or suggestions.
Apologies for the size but it's been so long since I did any low-level
stuff I was afraid I'd snip something important.
I tried, based on *old* memories, adding kernel arguments of noapic and
nolapic (IIRC). Stil...
