So...is lighttpd/fcgi on its way out, Apache/mongrel the up-and-comer?
I''ve been using a homegrown system to do billing for my site. Right now I want to add a couple things, but I''m not sure I want to actually have to work on this billing system. Seems like it''d make a lot more sense to just use an existing package like ModernBill [1]. I''ve never used PHP on lighttpd, never needed to. Not sure if MB can run on it, or how well

[LLVMdev] new comer question
Hello LLVMers, I am considering LLVM for a project, but I am not sure the handling of (C/C++ or 3rd party) library code used by user program. My understanding is that if those library code comes in native format, then all the benefit of LLVM is lost on them. Can they be decompiled into LLVM bytecode, or what options are there if I want to write a runtime pass that has to analyze native code?

Using if
Dear R users, As a new comer to R, I would like to create a new variable using if statements but don't know how to do it. Basically, I have two variables (EvHint and MinTex). I want to create a third variable called RiskTest. In SPSS, my syntax would look like Compute RiskTest=0. if (EvHint=1 & MinTex=1) RiskTest=1....

reducing learning curves?
...is able to remember them off the head. So a nice feature of Matlab command line is that I just need to type the first a few letters and then I press "TAB" key, there will be a list of possible commands popping up so I just need to select one. This helps a lot in terms of learning for new comers. A more advanced command auto-completion is Visual C++-like, which is implemented in program editor. It helps a lot while doing programming; 2. A good IDE editor with embedded inline debugger: can be as good as VC++, but also can be as simple as Matlab's debugger, which can breakpoint and tra...

GSoC 2018
...om the list and include the remaining projects in GSoC 2018. Because one cannot make assumptions about their completion by seeing GSoC 2017 tag. And also there is a possibility that some projects in the GSoC 2017 list are completed by developers (not as a GSoC project) and it is difficult for a new comer (student) to find out that. So I kindly request you to remove those completed GSoC 2017 projects and add the remaining projects to the GSoC 2018. By doing this some student can benefit from it. General "moving" functions
General "moving" function. I'm a relatively new comer to R, and I've only just started writing my own R functions. However, I need some help for something which I'm sure is quite straight forward. I want to write a function that will allow me to calculate "moving results" for a given vector. Ideally, the function will be of the f...

[LLVMdev] LLVM projects: Change framework
...ne. This is done by keeping an undo record of changes (allthough other approaches would seem fit also). The thesis can be found on http://www.prahersoft.com/~jp/da.pdf. Part of the thesis is an extensive documentation of the LLVM framework from a 10000 feet view. This might be interesting to new-comers. The reason why I did not post information on this list, is that the my university rules did not allow me to. I would be interested in hearing from you about it. -- Jakob

TI 59 backend
Hello, I am a new comer to llvm framework. I read quite many tutorials but I am still not able to determine whether llvm can be used for my project: implementing a backend for the famous Texas Instruments 59 Calculator (sold from 1977 to 1982). This is not a CPU but it uses a kind of bytecode that is interpreted (see exa...

How to set macaddr with nmcli
...ber setting MAC addresses on 3COM 3C501C boards because the old board died and we had software licensed to specific MAC addresses.? So you had to specify your MAC address in the config file.? The DEC admin had to do a similar thing if he had to swap out his LAN card (related: read up on why Dr. Comer set ARP timeout to 10min). Then there was that counterfeit 3C503C from Malaysia, all with the same MAC address.? Caused havoc on the networks.? EVERYONE had to specify their MAC address with those.? 3COM did find the plant making these clones and shut them down.? But the damage was done to a lo...
