Shortcomings of Maildir++ layout
> Sounds more like you just introduced a new self-created problem that would require yet another workaround.. ;-) Definitely wrong. Appending .dir to directories and .folder to folder files keeps files completely distinct and name collissions are not possible. > But what was not clear from your mail, is what exactly you identified as "the problems" with standard Maildir++ setup? Having regular files filenames beginning with a . is a no-go and flawed by design. Extremely error-prone No serious designer would ever do...

...and other customers IP's start showing loss using the channelstats info. Driving me freakin' crazy. It does appear there are network issues causing my troubles but I can't get help if I can't point to some hard and fast issues outside of Asterisk. The only thing I have right now is collissions showing on one of a few of our pfSense devices but they are virtual running on XenServer, still this would indicate a problem in my opinion. Thanks in advance for any assistance on this issue. Stepping back from the ledge now LOL -------------- next part -------------- An HTML att...

Marginal write performance & pauses in outgoing transfers - Possible bug
...the other way around, though (Win2k --> Samba), it's just as fast as FTP (because I *do* have my stuff properly tuned!), so fast in fact that it makes my hub's excessive bandwidth alert LED go on ;) All my network cards are propery configured, both media- and duplex- wise. There are no collissions. I don't even know why I'm saying this, because the rates I can achieve with FTP both ways alone proves that Samba is the culprit. Because most of the time a transfer takes to complete is wasted on those random pauses, anything I could tune concerning buffer sizes and the like is almos...

How to do Theora playback efficiently ?
...priority than smooth video playback so another implementation is needed. Because of this I tried to do this demuxing stuff (read from file, do the page_in calls) in a seperate thread. But without defining critical sections or other handling of synchronising threads, I get a lot off runtime errors (collission of ogg_stream and ogg_theora functions because of suddenly zero packets, etc.). If I synchonise the threads, it's working but I have a big slow down again... it works not efficiently. I don't understand why I have all these theora and ogg states when they are not capable of handle multi...

[Bridge] Linux bridging code bounces back frames?
...es connect to eth1 (via a TP cross cable). In all cases the duplicates sooner or later did occur. The bride does not work; I cannot ping through it; strangely though dhcp does work through it, as does arp resolution. My network is very simple. There's only that one bridge linking two ethernet collission domains. Unlike what /usr/share/doc/bridge-utils/README.Debian.gz says, STP seems to be disabled by default. With the one-bridge network I have (no other switches, really) this should not hurt though (and turning it on did not make a difference). In /etc/network/options both spoofprotect and ip_...

My work around was to simply comment out the res/Makefile steps to compile the res_snm...

Shortcomings of Maildir++ layout
Hi, I am trying to deal with the problem, that under regular mbox format a path can lead to either a file or a directory, but not both, while under IMAP, a path is usually both, a message folder containing subfolders. I found dovecot's approach to this problem, the Maildir++ layout described under http://wiki2.dovecot.org/MboxChildFolders , and was astonished to see, what problems come with

Filesystem that doesn't store duplicate data
Is there such a filesystem available? It seems like it wouldn't be too hard to implement... Basically do things on a block by block basis. Store md5 of a block in the table, and when writing a new block, check if the md5 already exists and then point the new block to the old block. Since md5 is not guaranteed unique, might need to do a diff between the 2 blocks and if the blocks are indeed

Multiprotocol File Sharing via NFSv4 and Samba
Hi all, are there any non-commercial solutions (apart from solutions like Dell EMC, IBM and NetApp) around that allow to simultaneously access the same file system via NFSv4 and Samba exports in a (nearly) non-conflicting manner, especially w.r.t. to NFSv4/Windows ACL incompatibilities? *** Asterisk Sunday News: The SIP NAT Special
...ttp://bugs.digium.com * Asterisk IRC channel: #asterisk on irc.freenode.net * Digium: http://www.digium.com * Wiki: http://www.voip-info.org * Voip Search: http://search.voip-forum.com * Astricon: http://www.astricon.net That's all for this week. The SIP and NAT problem is really caused by the collission between reality and the beautiful vision. The vision is an Internet with only public addresses. The reality is that we have a shortage and only get a few IP addresses from our ISP's, forcing us to use NAT devices. Maybe the vision will come true with IPv6, but for most of us, that's also...

Offline Deduplication for Btrfs
Here are patches to do offline deduplication for Btrfs. It works well for the cases it''s expected to, I''m looking for feedback on the ioctl interface and such, I''m well aware there are missing features for the userspace app (like being able to set a different blocksize). If this interface is acceptable I will flesh out the userspace app a little more, but I believe the
