Asterisk 1.8 Transfer CallerID
Hello,
when a call comes in and is answered by colleague A, this colleague A
sees the CallerID of the external calling number.
When colleague A transfers the call to colleague B, attended or
unattended, then colleague B sees the number of colleague A on his
screen while talking to the external calling number.
I expect here that colleague B would see the external calling number on
the screen

JASP vs R
Colleagues,
Many of my colleagues come to me for a recommendation for statistical
software.
Since I am an R user, that's my typical answer.
Some colleagues of mine refuse to use it because of its steep learning curve
and lack of a GUI.
They wanted a statistical software that's free and that had a GUI...

user library help functionality (packages.html)
...my colleague or I
want to update a package or install a newly available package but do
not have time to wait a week or two for our sysadmin.)
Problem (?): As a course instructor, I want flexibility to install add-
on libraries to a user (not site) library, and I don't want to step on
my colleagues' toes (or vice-versa) when it comes to add-on packages
and associated help files for use in classes. I have no problem
installing add-on packages to a user library, with one exception: I do
not have permission to update the file $RHOME/doc/html/packages.html,
as evidenced by a permissi...

Ajax Tabbed Browsing
I was wondering if anyone has done this, namely make tabbed browsing
exactly like a web browser, but have it within the page.
I would like to make a search function that updates a section of the
page with the results, as well as makes a new tab that displays those
search results. Then, if a user did 5 searches, there would be 5 tabs.
Each tab would hide the other 4 results and show the

Comparison of SAS & R/Splus
I am one of only 5 or 6 people in my organization making the
effort to include R/Splus as an analysis tool in everyday work -
the rest of my colleagues use SAS exclusively.
Today, one of them made the assertion that he believes the
numerical algorithms in SAS are superior to those in Splus
and R -- ie, optimization routines are faster in SAS, the SAS
Institute has teams of excellent numerical analysts that
ensure its superiority to anything freel...

Hi everybody,

R report generator (for Word)?
...ood solution for keeping record of my experiments -
could you please help me?
My work is about analysing data... My current work-flow:
1. Everyday my bosses give me some small steps/tasks for analysing data -
which are parts of one bigger/whole project.
2. Everyday I send tens of emails to bosses/colleagues to report my
findings in each step.
3. Bosses/colleagues often respond to my findings in real-time and suggest
new experiments/steps and ask "what-if" questions.
4. I often have to manually copy and paste the results from R console and
put them into an Excel and decorate a bit and send ou...

anti-R vitriol
A colleague is receiving some data from another person. That person
reads the data in SAS and it takes 30s and uses 64k RAM. That person
then tries to read the data in R and it takes 10 minutes and uses a
gigabyte of RAM. Person then goes on to say:
It's not that I think SAS is such great software,
it's not. But I really hate badly designed
software. R is designed by

Making R packages
Hi:
I am posting this message for a colleague who has
a lot of trouble to build an R package on
Windows. He did not find a solution to his
problems on the R-help archives and hopes that
one of the R gurus will be able to help.
He has a directory "CO2" which should contain all
the required files and directories:

Coercing by/tapply to data.frame for more than two indices?
Dear Colleagues,
Apologies for a long email to ask what I feel may be a very simple
question; I figure it's better to overspecify my situation.
I was asked a question, recently, by a colleague in my department
about pre-aggregating variables, i.e., computing the mean of defined subsets
of a data f...

Multinomial logistic regression under R and Stata
Dear Colleagues
I have been fitting some multinomial logistic regression models using R
(version 1.6.1 on a linux box) and Stata 7. Although the vast majority
of the parameter estimates and standard errors I get from R are the same
as those from Stata (given rounding errors and so on), there are a few

choicemodelr is misbehaving under R3.0
Hi John (and other authors of ChoiceModelR package),
I am experiencing a weird thing when using the function choicemodelr under
R3.0.1.
Before I updated to R3.0, I had used choicemodelr unde R2.15. It was always
as fast or faster than exactly the same task in Sawtooth software.
Now, I've tried to run it under R3.0.1. It seems to be doing the job. But
something is slowing it down dramatically.

Installing on Windows packages build on Unix
Hello,
I wanted to share with a colleague a few R functions that I wrote. To
this purpose, I created a small package on my machine (Unix) and
emailed it to her. Now she is having troubles installing the package
on her Windows machine. It seems that on her side, install.packages
looks for a "zip" file - while I have created a "tar.gz" file. I tried
to build the package with the

Sweave : change value in rnw file to generate multiple "single" reports ?
Hello,
I'm still trying to make the life of my colleagues easier. Nice, isn't it ?
At the moment, I'm looking for a way to generate multiple "single report".
In fact I have a .rnw file which send a query to a MySQL database
(rs<-dbSendQuery(con, statement="select * from treatdata where
name='Device1'")
But of course...
