X100P Burnouts
Thought I would post this experience to the list so it's archived for
posterity... My company is deploying Asterisk-based PBX's to all of our
branch offices. Each office has 2 analog Voice lines and a fax line.
We didn't want to go to the expense of using TDM400's in the servers
(which run asterisk and Hylafax) so we opted for 2 X100P cards in each
box. So far they have

That's exactly correct; the analog phone "is" providing the balanced
tip-ring termination that apparently is not being provided by the TA750.
(Sure wish I had a TA750 to prove that. Anyone want to ship me one for

interesting comment. New Physics?
While browsing about, found http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/TDM400P, where I found this comment:
"Here's a tip passed on from an old telephone engineer. Where your copper 2-wire cable approaches the building, underground, finish with several large loops, about a metre in diameter, laid on top of each other. Fast moving, high energy spikes will spin off the outside of the loop as they

Strange Error -- ASterisk 1.6
All,
I just noticed this in my logs, and am rather lost as to what module
it pertains to. I would assume pseudo-realtime priority for the process,
but I am looking for a little confirmation from the group:

feature request -- talk to the router, not the UPS
That kind of scheme should be handled by scripting - not by NUT.
As far as having a _perfectly good UPS with no driver_, ANY UPS can
be converted into a "dumb" UPS with the addition of 2 relays.
The first relay is a primary 110 (or 220v) AC coil and a set of NO
contacts. When main power fails the contacts close.
The second relay is a primary 12v DC coil and a variable resistor and a

feature request -- talk to the router, not the UPS
Hello,
I want to propose a universal UPS driver that will work with any and all
UPSes out there. That driver is called: PING :-)
It works like this... the user plugs their router into a power source
OTHER than the UPS. Instead of talking to the UPS, NUT pings the router
every say, 30 seconds. If the router doesn't respond to the PING, NUT
keeps trying for a user-configurable amount of

comparing and combing files
Hello,
I have two tab-delimited files which I would like to combine.
In the first one I have gene IDs (Unique) on column 1 and than various
experimental results from microarray analysis (see attached files list1 )
the second arrays have the same genes IDs (more and in a different order,
some are double) (see attached files list2 )
What I would like to do is to search in the second list for gene

Postfix mail server procedure
CentOS Community,
I was wondering if anyone had a good resource or procedure for a step by
step in installing a mail server with Centos. There ARE documents on
google, however almost all that i've found were outdated from 2005. Does
anyone know where I can find this type of document for a mailserver
Postfix + MySQL + SpamAssassin + ClamAV + Squirrelmail + Postfixadmin, etc?

UPS has no built-in monitor. [GishPuppy]
OS: Debian Wheezy
Nut: 2.6.4-2.3
Installation method: Synaptic
Device: CDP B-UPR505
Traces, debugs, etc.: Not available or irrelevant
Description:
Where I currently live (Honduras), buying a UPS with monitoring capability means spending at least twice as much as a "plain-Jane" model - usually even more than that. Thus, since I can't afford the ones with monitoring, all I have are

Back-up connection
Some weeks ago, I asked if anyone had set up a backup scheme for a remote
server.
By backup here, I mean an alternative arrangement that can be called upon
if eg the DSL connection to the remote machine fails.
I received one interesting reply:

At home, besides my fixed lines,
I have two gsm-modems, one low-speed (that came free of charge with one of
my fixed lines),

What are some effective power status solutions?
Greetings NUT users,
I am looking for a solution to monitor the power OUTSIDE my datacenter.
(The on/blackout status of main building power).
My small datacenter is covered by a UPS, an older Liebert 18Kva unit with
no environmental or status monitoring outside of the LCD console and
audible alarm. The Liebert UPS is backed by a 35KW diesel generator which
usually kicks on within 10

Identify SIEMENS MASTEGUARD
...and - 375 volt using FET bridge
Half bridge using IGBT to chop the +- 375V to a true sinus
Optional additional power supply to battery voltage (half the power rating
of the unit). So that the output is frequency unrelated to the input.
The difference between smaller and bigger units is in the coils,
transformers and number and or size of FET's and IGBT's
The units use 24V (2*12) 37V (3*12) or 96V (8*12) battery depending on power
and available up time
WARNING THERE IS NO GALVANIC ISOLATION!!!!!
The advantage is a smaller, lighter and more power effective unit.

Without kernel support, unlinking the file at creation time requires
a code change in the process which creates the file. And this doesn''t

How do I approach this problem?
I'm having a problem that I hope those with greater experience might
have some ideas on.
I live up in the mountains where the power is ill-conditioned.
Transients which would cause a computer to reboot occur on a daily
basis. Power failures are frequent and can last anywhere from five
minutes to five days. I have all my computers on UPSs so the first two
problems are solved. I have a

Major problems with TDM400 and specific telephones: suggestions?
...of what I can do to try to correct this? Is
there some sort of filter or adapter that I can use to condition the line
for the TDM400 FXS modules? I'm handy with a soldering iron: if you've
got an idea for a circuit, I'm game. I'm going to try experimenting with
some caps and coils. Anyone been down this road yet?
As an aside, why is it that just about *any* other device with an analog
interface you can buy today more robust than the TDM cards? I've used
countless different ISDN NT-1's without problems, from $100 cheapo models
to $1000 high-end devices and tons...
