Advice....
Hi, I''m a relative newbie to LARTC but I have read Matthew Marsh''s book and lurked on this list for a while.... I still seem to be missing a few key ideas here.... So... Maybe folks on the list will be kind enough to help. I have two different ISPs. Cogent and Bell. I have three different firewalls (2 PIX and 1 IPCop). And I have an Ubuntu Linux box doing LARTC for around 40 LANs (all using 192.168.x.x/24).... Here''s a picture: /----------------------| / |...

mysterious SIP packets to Cogent
In my SOHO setting even when nobody is using the phone my firewall drops outgoing packets from the asterisk box to a Cogent server, din't find naything through Google about it: (out: eth0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.:2129 -> 66.250.40.33:24441 UDP len:193 ttl:64). Anyone know what this traffic is supposed to be good for? Greetings --AvH

Weird permissions issues with samba shares and XFS
...mply `cp -a bar foo`, then foo is accessible. So it looks as if something besides ACL/Unix permissions is at play, but I don't know what it is. I am running stock samba from CENTOS 7.4, that is `smbd -V` gives me 4.7.1. thank you, David -- *ダビド・クルナポ* David Cournapeau, PhD シニアリサーチエンジニア *株式会社Cogent Labs* 〒150-0034 東京都渋谷区代官山町 20-23 TENOHA LAB Tel: 03 6773 1836 <0367731836> *Direct: 070 3123 1394 <07031231394>* dcournapeau at cogent.co.jp *www.cogent.co.jp <https://www.cogent.co.jp>*

[LLVMdev] fixed point support
...ing integer types, with intrinsic functions for the operations, or some other such scheme. Introducing new types is hard work and creates a maintenance burden for everyone, since they will need to be properly supported by all parts of the compiler forever more. It is therefore important to give a cogent explanation of why this is the best approach, why the benefits outweigh the costs, and so forth. Ciao, Duncan.

[OT] Serving Multiple Stylesheets
...nbearable overhead involved in breaking css into multiple stylesheets? I''m running lighttpd, and the following article discusses why one might want to do that: http://justinfrench.com/?id=141 My CSS is beginning to get a bit lumpy to digest in one glance and the article(s) seem to make a cogent argument for separating functional elements out. I just wanted to make sure there weren''t any Rails or server issues that would be problematic. [LLVMdev] fixed point support
Hi, I am investigating the possibilities of incorporating fixed point support into the LLVM I/R. So far, I have experimented a bit with defining a new type, adding some instructions and extended some simple cases of optimization. What is needed is a full support of types, instructions and rewriting of optimization passes etc so as to fully incoorporate the type. We find it important to make

offset arg (was Re: [R] variable scope)
I certainly think we should deprecate it and Peter has (probably unintentionally) offered yet another cogent argument as to why (although that could be fixed by including "offset" among the arguments to be handled by model.frame, like subset, weights, &c, and yes, I do know this would break existing code...) For me the main argument against it, though, is that it de-links the offset from th...

set dataframe field value from lookup table
Hi This is (hopefully) a bit more cogent phrasing of a previous post. I'm trying to compute a z-score to rows in a large dataframe based on values in another dataframe. Here's the script (that does not work). 2 questons, 1) Anyone know of a more elegant way to calculate the "rounded" age value than the nested ifelse'...

Recommend against Teliax as primary ITSP
...ey were always up. Any tech support calls to Teliax would take more than 2 days to get a response. Only when I threatened to leave would someone suddenly pop up and answer my concerns. They claim to have been changing bandwidth providers (away from rockynet, or at least companies that peer with Cogent), but traceroutes show they are still with them. So far, when I've actually gotten ahold of a tech support person, they have told me to try different addresses for the server. They've changed recently from voip.teliax.com to ast01.teliax.com to voip-co1.teliax.com. Guess what? All the sa...

mpt_sas multipath problem?
Greetings, We''re trying out a new JBOD here. Multipath (mpxio) is not working, and we could use some feedback and/or troubleshooting advice. The OS is oi151a7, running on an existing server with a 54TB pool of internal drives. I believe the server hardware is not relevant to the JBOD issue, although the internal drives do appear to the OS with multipath device names (despite the fact

[LLVMdev] [RFC] Parallelization metadata and intrinsics in LLVM (for OpenMP, etc.)
Hi, Sorry for the hiatus, busy time at my university. :) After a false start and some (hopefully cogent) thought, I am now of the opinion that it will be better to have llvm natively support a somewhat different notion of parallel computation and have the frontend lower OpenMP directives (and possibly other such things) into the same. In short, I propose a intrinsic based approach which hinges on th...
