What Happened to my SAMBA? Permissions Issue
OK. Everything is going great for 4 years on my FC3 Samba Version 3.0.3-5. Now all of a sudden, when someone opens a Word/Excel file on a Samba share, it changes the user Owner to that user as well as modifies the permissions to r-x and leaves the group/permission bits/owner setting alone. I have the root directories for all shares with the u and g sticky bits set on, but it is not enforcing

What's the easiest way to call two people at same time and bridge them?
Anyone have a suggestion on how I can have my asterisk box make two SIP or IAX calls and bridge the two together? It seems like it would be easy to setup but the only way I'm finding seems to be setting up meetme rooms. Jess

winbind passwords expiring
With samba-3.0.23d and an NT4 PDC, passwords expire for no obvious reason when using winbind for system services such as ssh(sftp). The users have no problem when accessing the Samba shares or logging onto the domain locally, but periodically windbind will expire their passwords when attempting to use such 'nix services. Any clues? Thanks, Chris

Is it possible to ID payphone calls?
Hello I have a 800 DID setup to dial into my Asterisk server and I'm wondering if it's possible to ID when it's a payphone or not? I suspect it's not since I'm getting calls from someone else's SIP or IAX box. If I had a digium card installed and connected to a couple lines would I be able to get this information and parse it? Thanks, Jess

here's my IAX callthrough app and some questions about problems I have.
Hello all, What my app does is accepts a call in on a Dial-In Number (DID) via IAX, and then prompts the caller for the top secret password (123) and then authenticates the user and prompts them to dial in the number they'd like to call. Once they press pound after dialing in the number it will read it back to them, if they press pound it will attempt to connect via the second IAX provider,

Queueing models
...ooking for something which shouldn't exist within a package like R (but just a simple spreadsheet program). There are such plug-ins for Excel (QTP, etc) but I have started using R more significantly at work and was looking to see if it had additions in the queueiing arena as well. Samba Read-only redundancy
Hi Everyone, We are setting up some READ-ONLY Samba servers, mounted from the same volume on a SAN. The files are media files to be played out by Windows Media Servers mounted on Win2003. Here are my thoughts about possible configurations, would someone mind letting me know what would the best option be? A) DNS Round Robin Have foo.domain resolve to 10.0.0.1, 10.0.0.2, 10.0.0.3. 10.0.0.1

Problem with often password prompt box (security=user)
Hi, a while ago i had to migrate from old server on Debian Sarge to new one on Debian Etch (amd64). Since then, with the same config i had earlier it became a common problem that client workstations connecting to the server have to reauthenticate very often (at least few times a day), and the staff is going to kill me if i dont fix this soon. Any ideas what could be the cause/solution ? --

Problem with LDAP groups and associated file permissions
Hi folks! Our smb with LDAP PDC now seems to be nearly completed. Just now we found out something very mysterious. We organized some directorys to be used by specific domain groups. If we put a user into a group the user is allowed to access the associated share. So far this works pretty nice. If we remove the user from the domain group the user seems to keep all his rights he got from his group

winbindd + smbd errors trying to run in proxy only mode
Hi, I am trying to set up squid to authenticate using the ntlm module. In order to do this I am trying to get winbindd to run in proxy only mode. I am running Samba 2.0.23c. I have no references to idmap or winbind in my smb.conf. I was of the impression this should cause winbindd to start in proxy only mode. Starting winbindd results in: Jan 30 12:04:33 FS1 winbindd[15332]: [2007/01/30
