Changing expired Samba AD password during Windows login
I'm running a Samba AD 4.7.4 and cannot set a new password for a user
with an expired password during login from a Windows PC. Changing a
password from inside a login with cntl-alt-del "change password" works ok.
I've already decreased the minimum password age to 0

Changing expired Samba AD password during Windows login
Thanks for the help, however I don't think your suggestion applies in my
case. On a fresh install of Samba 4.7.4 AD you cannot change a user
password on a logged in PC through cntl-alt-del -> ChangePassword
because the default MinAge is 1 days. I had to use the "samba-tool
domain passwordsettings set --min-pwd-age=0" command to make the
logged-on style of password change work.
All that remains is getting the PasswordChange "during login" to work.

However, if for a non-expired user, they log in successfully and
choose cntl-alt-del they can successfully change their password.

Centos5 and X respawning problem
...error messages.
I've spent half the day googling various answers. init 5 will not do
anything. startx and xinit do work, but don't provide the proper window
manager nor X window sessions.
Now that I think of it, after the first yum update, the system defaulted to a
tty, and I had to CNTL-Alt-F7 to switch to the X display.
I also tried to install the ATI video driver, but that claimed an error in the
end.
I tried to comment out x:5:respawn... at #Run xdm in runlevel 5
at the end of /etc/inittab then initiate init 5 from a tty session, but that
didn't do any good.

ZFS receive issue running multiple receives and rollbacks

- Restore the state of the second host to the initial state (using zfs

- Run zfs receive for a second time on the second host
Now the second host appears to lock up. I wait half an hour and the zfs

cntl-c and I get no response.
But if I take the following action:
- Open a second terminal window on the second host
- Power off the second host (reboot might be enough here but since it''s
VMWare, poweroff is easy enough)
- Restart the second host

...-9 PID. ps auwx|grep name_of_command is still running.
The command is NOT part of any scheduled job. Why won't the process die?
How else can I kill it without a system reboot? The command does not get
invoked with a script, and is not a script itself - just a standalone binary.
I tried CNTL-Z and CNTL-C. I finally killed the terminal it was running from.
Nothing works.
pkill doesn't work, either.
Thanks.

Does anyone else have one of these on 24/7 running RHEL 5.4 or Centos 5.4 ??
That box mysteriously stops ( no crash data, it just stops) hours or days after boot, with or without X.
Cntl-Alt-Delete reboots it without power cycling. The usual diagnostics (memtest and fsck) return no
errors. Works great until it freezes. No evidence of kernel oops anywhere.
If others report the same issues we will scrap the board. Otherwise I will continue to investigate what

[Bug 1398] New: slave ssh sessions enter a never-ending blocking state
...other slave processes closing. I've attached a patch that I think fixes
this problem.
I've also created a simple regression, but I'm not exactly sure how
well it will work in other locations. But to manually test issue:
in one window/session:
( ulimit -Sn 11 ; exec ./ssh -vMS /tmp/cntl otherhost )
in another window/session:
./ssh -vS /tmp/cntl otherhost
The process in the 2nd window blocks until the master ssh process
exits. I would think it would be better to have the slave exit as soon
as possible since it will never be able to access otherhost.
I've also seen anothe...

Have you set the GPOs?
'samba-tool domain passwordsettings' works, as a ''global policy'', for
samba domain controller only.
For clients (and windows domain members, in general...

On Windows OS, one can clear previous results in the R window with

following Centos wiki headless install, but applying to FC10
I have successfully built an install CD following the instructions at:
http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/VncHeadlessInstall
Now I am trying to do the same with FC10 and I am failing in two ways.
I have tried to find a similar howto for even FC9, but have not found
the right google magic.
The first problem should be small. When I set isolinux.cfg to start with:

...updated correctly, but the
terminal is not when entering a key path. I looked for a possible fix
in the libc (BOS) imps for AIX, but found nothing. Since we can't rely
on our users choosing the correct backspace option, I was just planning
on writing a wrapper for fgets that cleans up any DEL cntl codes found
in the buffer before returning to the caller. I figured I'd ping the
list first though, to see if anyone else has seen this problem, or might
have a better idea then writing another function to replace the fgets
calls.
Thanks!

Rsync 2.6.1 released (includes security note)
Rsync version 2.6.1 has been released. It is primarily a performance
release that requires less memory to run, makes fewer write calls to
the socket (lowering the system CPU time), does less string copying
(lowering the user CPU time), and also reduces the amount of data
that is transmitted over the wire. There have also been quite a few
bug fixes. See the release NEWS for the full details:
