size of speex packets when VAD/CNG is enabled
Hi all, supposing to have speex working at 3.95, when VAD/CNG is employed, which is the size of those "silence" samples respect to voice samples? I am wondering if it could be possible to lower even the transmission of VAD/CNG samples by specifying "outbound" in the communication channel only 1 bit instead of sending the whole VAD/CNG...

Problem with fax tone (CNG) from TxFax and busy detect
.../asterisk/outgoing because * isn't able to detect the busy signal. The call file looks like this: Channel: Zap/g2/3036701917 MaxRetries: 1000 RetryTime: 60 WaitTime: 45 Application: TxFAX Data: <filename>.tiff|caller Using the "|caller" parameter, TxFax injects the fax tone (CNG) onto the line. With the CNG tone, asterisk is unable to detect the busy tones. If I were to remove "|caller" then the receiving station wouldn't receive the CNG tone and possibly not direct the call to the fax machine. Is there a way for * to detect busy tones while ignoring (fi...

asterisk and vad/cng
Hi List, i've set up a cisco 7912 for my asterisk box. I've had problems with VAD and CNG. After googling a bit, i've found an article about asterisk not supporting these two protocols, therefore it's better to turn them off. Since then i did not found answer to my two questions, maybe somebody here could help me: a) am i even able to turn off vad/cng on cisco 7912? SIP im...

Clarification on DAHDI Fax Detection
Hi folks, I was hoping that someone might be able to help clarify some confusion I have on DAHDI Fax detection after spending some time searching. My understanding is this: 1.) Echo cancellation is automatically disabled upon recognition of a CNG tone, regardless of the faxdetect setting. This can only be disabled at compile time. 2.) faxdetect=incoming will, upon detection of a CNG tone, send the call to the fax extension. 3.) faxdetect=outgoing will ?????? Also, do Digium cards with HW Echo Cancellation detect the CNG tones in hardwar...

Problems with call files (/var/spool/asterisk/outgoing)
I've seen other posts about this problem, but I haven't found a solution. I'm dumping eight call files into the "outgoing" directory at one time. Three of the calls are successful while the other five are lost. Here is the call file: Channel: Zap/g2/3036701917 MaxRetries: 1000 RetryTime: 60 WaitTime: 45 Application: TxFAX Data: <filename>.tiff|caller Note: All

VAD/CNG
I know that asterisk does not support VAD. I poked around and saw some reference to asterisk supporting CNG. Will CNG work without VAD ? If yes is there any way to set this on asterisk 1.2.X for SIP using G729 ? Thanks. Dovid -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Silk CNG
I have difficulties to understand how to use Silk GNC. I have enabled GNC (and VAD) something like this: param.setting.vad = 1; param.setting.cng = 1; param.setting.plc = 1; param.setting.penh = 1; status = pjmedia_codec_opus_set_default_param(&config, &param); I used debugger and printf to see that code executes in Opus CNG.c silk_CNG function noise generation loop. But still I cannot hear nothing when I get all input voice silent....

FAX CNG detected but no fax extension
Hello, I have a question regarding incoming fax to local file (on the Asterisk server). While the fax is received properly (I have the tiff file generated as expected) I get the warning 'FAX CNG detected but no fax extension' on the consol. If the fax is received ok then what 'fax extension' does it expect and what should I do there? My Setup: Sender -> Public PSTN -> provider -> SIP trunk (configured with G711a) -> Asterisk (13.6.0) My extension.conf on relevan...

Questions relating RTP packetisation
...'on', variable bit-rate is enabled. If 'off', disabled. If set to 'vad', then constant bit-rate is used, but silence will be encoded with special short frames to indicate a lack of voice for that period. This parameter is a preference to the encoder. cng: comfort noise generation - either 'on' or 'off' (defaults to 'off'). If 'off', then silence frames will be silent; if 'on', then those frames will be filled with comfort noise. This parameter is a preference to the encoder. And Speex docume...

Flow-Tools RPM for CentOS 5.3
Alle, Does anyone know if there is/where to get an rpm of flow-tools V0.66 or better for CentOS/RHEL 5.3? We've been trying to build from the SRPM @ http://cng.ateneo.net/cng/wyu/software/srpm/flow-tools-0.68-2.src.rpm with no luck. Best Regards, Camron -- Camron W. Frozen upper spectrum in WB VBR CNG
Great, thanks! That patch solved it. VBR without DTX seems to work perfectly now. If I enable DTX, there's still a little bit of buzz but it doesn't seem to last very long when it happens. I appreciate the quick fix! Tom Jean-Marc Valin (jean-marc.valin@hermes.usherb.ca) wrote: > > Yep, you found a bug and here's the patch. It should solve your problem > (using VBR

faxdetect on/off on the fly?

Frozen upper spectrum in WB VBR CNG
Hi, I've been using Speex in my voice-over-IP program on Win32, in wideband (16kHz) mode. I just starting using VBR recently and have run into something that might be a problem within Speex: If someone hasn't spoken for a little while, and the bitrate drops to very low, sometimes the high half of the spectrum becomes frozen with a looping sound. The bottom half of the spectrum is

API for checking whether the encoder is in DTX (PR #107)
...ription and code changes below. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Best regards Gustaf Ullberg In WebRTC, we would like to be able to differentiate between "normal" frames and the comfort noise update frames that are encoded before and in-between DTX frames. These CNG update frames could then be flagged for routing or statistics reasons. Such flagging could also make it easier for a jitterbuffer to differ DTX from packet loss. This PR implements an encoder CTL named OPUS_GET_IN_DTX. OPUS_GET_IN_DTX returns 1 if the last encoded frame was either a DTX frame, or...

faxdetect config issues
...d sent to the proper extension; i.e., when I send a fax from one zap extension to a zap voice extension, it is intercepted and sent to my fax machine (which is on a SIP ATA). HOWEVER, my ZAP trunks are NOT detected. A call from an outside FAX machine goes to voice mail, and I get a message full of CNG tone. My questions are: 1. How can I make faxdetect apply on a per-channel basis again? (It USED to work that way) 2. How can I make my outside lines have CNG tone detected on them? Here is my config: In ZAPATA.CONF: ; A typical trunk Faxdetect=incoming ; have tried also "both"...
