ext3+acl
A patch that implements acls on ext3 for kernel 2.2.x is available at http://moldybread.net/patch/kernel-2.2/ It looks to be stable. Beat it, break it.

EA and ACL patches on ext3-2.4
...r message: "VFS: brelse: Trying to free free buffer" From what testing that I have already done, this error message appears to be harmless. I am unable to find what is causing it, however. ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through MuleMail: http://mulemail.cmsu.edu/

ACL support for ext3 on 2.4.x
...behavior as seen in the patch for 2.2.x, cause still unknown. 2. File creation is significantly slower in a directory with default ACLs. Also seems slower than doing the same with the 2.2.x patch. ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through MuleMail: http://mulemail.cmsu.edu/

Extended Attributes and Access Control Lists
Hello, I have today released an initial version of extended attributes and access control lists for ext3 (patch against the 2.4.13-ac3 kernel). Eric Jarman <ejarman@acm.org> has contributed a lot to this effort. Since I'm not very much into the innards of ext3, can some of you please take a look at the patch, and see whether it contains any flaws (and tell me which flaws)? Thanks! The

Ocfs 2
Hello, I have been waiting to implement RAC in anticipation of OCFS 2 and the shared Oracle Home. I know that version 2 was supposed to be released September 30th. Can anyone give me further information on whether the release date has been pushed back or whether I'm just looking in the wrong locations for the rpms? Thank you, Nathan Hill Central Missouri State University

ntlm_auth multiple domain authentication
Hi, I'm using ntlm_auth to authenticate users in freeradius. My samba server is joined to DOMAINA. When I run ntlm_auth --username=domainauser everything works great. When I run ntlm_auth --username=domainbuser it fails because the user does not exist in domaina which the server is joined to. If I run ntlm_auth --username=domainbuser --domain=domainb it works great. I was wanting to do

nmbd and port 135
I have a slight browsing problem. We seem to have multiple domain browse lists that aren't being merged at our wins server. For example, on 2003DOMAIN, I only see 3 domains/workgroups. On NT4DOMAINA, I see 3 domains/workgroups, and on NT4DOMAINB I see 56 domains/workgroups, and on NT4DOMAINC I see 28 domains/workgroups. According to Microsoft documentation the domain master browser of each

nmbd and port 135 / dce rpc WINS
These are already open. I'm pretty sure that NT4/2003 PDC's make a DCE/RPC over TCP connection to pull down the <1b> entries from the wins server. I have done packet captures on test NT4 wins server to see how PDC's pull their domain lists, and I see the port 135 three way handshake, which then gets switched over to a tcp port 1028 which is the dce/rpc requests and responses.

Re: 802.1x machine authentication patch help
I found my problem. From Andrew Bartlett himself "This is not supported against NT4. Only Samba 3.0.21rc1 and AD support this extra flag." To do machine authentication with freeradius, your workstation (supplicant) and samba server must be a member of a 2000/2003 domain. I had the supplicant and samba server still a member of the nt4 domain. Once I changed this, it worked great.

samba 3 keeps trying to authenticate with the nt4 pdc using port 445
Hello, I'm running redhat enterprise as 3.2 with the included samba 3.0.2-6.3E. I'm trying to make this a domain member server in a nt4 domain. I've successfully joined the domain only after using the net join -p 139 option to force samba to use port 139, otherwise it kept trying to communicate over port 445. (I was watching the syn packets with tethereal). Typing wbinfo -g comes
