It just doesn't seem to be pushing the audio on to Icecast even though it successfully connects to it as a source. Argh!! I had this working several months ago on another machine... Run liveice as a background process...
I want to run liveice when the RH71 server boots up. I cannot seem to get it right though. This is what I have tried to do... In /etc/rc.d/rc.local /usr/local/icecast/bin/liveice & This is failing though. Is anyone else out there successfully starting liveice as a background process? How have you been able to do it? Thanks, Matt --- >8 ---- List archives:

liveice.cfg location
Can I tell liveice to load a liveice.cfg in a location other than the same directory the liveice program is in? The problem is if I try to run liveice from anywhere other than it's directory it's not finding the liveice.cfg file. Let's say I'm at /. If I run /usr/local/icecast/bin/liveice from there it will not find the /usr/local/icecast/bin/liveice.cfg file. There has got to

Sound:Recording Overrun
Has anybody had this problem? I came in this morning and found my streamer down and this message flashing by on the console. "Sound: Recording Overrun" I'm running Icecast 1.3.11 and the source is Liveice on Redhat 7.1 if that makes a difference.
Just curious, Matt
--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage:

Sorry can't really help with porting issues. I can solve simple compiling and scripting problems, but that's about as far as it goes. Thanks though for helping my solve this issue. I appreciate it. Akos...Darkice questions
This is probably sacrilegious to speak of Shoutcast here but that's what I am streaming to right now. Just a couple questions about Darkice... quality is set to 0.5 by default. What's the range for this and what kind of effect does it have on the audio and the load on the system? I've set the "public" variable to yes so it will advertise to Shoutcasts directory but

Attn: darkeye@tyrell.hu RE: Darkice
You helped me a few weeks ago setup DarkIce. Well I had nothing but problems doing it on RH62 so... here I am again but this time armed with RH71. I followed your instructions for installing lame and ogg vorbis and it's all fine. When I tr to install DarkIce though I get the following error. # make make all-recursive make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/download/darkice-0.6' Making

Well I read the instructions this time...duh... I've got Redhat 7.1...followed the instructions in the INSTALL.lame file for Redhat. I don't have gcc3 installed I guess cause it still failed. Yes... Something like the following in your rc.local or other startup file should do the trick.
