Installing R cmdr
Dear John Fox, I am using Snowleopard with a Intel Core 2 Duo processor. I have installed the R console and followed your steps at: http://socserv.mcmaster.ca/jfox/Misc/Rcmdr/installation-notes.html but every time I try "library(Rcmdr)" it loads Tcl/tk infinitely. I have tried loading "library(tcltk)" by itself and it does the same thing. I have tried with X11 running to no avail. I have even tried downloading a snowleopard build from http://r.re...

Syntax coloring in R console
...Linux. I have found the packages "xterm256" and "highlight", but I was not able to figure out how to use it to highlight the syntax in console output. Also, I tried several GUI interfaces, but I was not able to find something that suits me better than the default R console. R cmdr is definitely not for me, as I don't want to fundamentally change the way I am managing my data in R. Rkwrd seems to be nice (from screenshots), but its installation requires all the base KDE libraries, which I don't want to install. I tried JGR, the GUI for R, but I have found the followi...

t-test
...and continue to have the same problem I did with the previuos version which is that I am unable to run a two-sample t-test in R-commander. I can run a paired t-test and a one sample t-test but not a two-sample t-test or one factor ANOVA. The data have been both imported and entered directly into R-cmdr and I can run regressions and basic data summaries on these data but not the t-tests described above. Any ideas? Hi there, I was updating the R-cmdr add-on (v.1.1-6 to the latest v.1.2) for R (v.2.2.0) in a SunOS9 environment and came across some warnings during my installation - it seems to download the dependencies but runs into the following during install: * Installing *source* package 'acepack' ... ** libs /opt/sfw/R/R-2.2.0/bin/S...

3d plotting alternatives. I like persp, but regret the lack of plotmath.
...ou want to interact with the graph--"spin" a 3d graph or get a display with lively colors. It works more like plot, in the sense that you can draw the figure and then add components with points3d and so forth. And there are nice working examples of extensions in misc3d. And also, the R CMDR interface has a working pull down menu system that can make rgl 3d graphs. That's a big plus. After playing with some examples, I see these troubles. The only output device that runs well (finishes and does not generate massive files) is png. The output quality on the screen is quite beautif...

R, Rcmdr crash on WinXP PRO laptop (PR#8583)
Having the same behaviour with 2.2.1 and 2.2.1 patched, even if R Cmdr is not loaded. It does not appear to be strictly a data import problem. For me the issue appears when trying to open any scripts, although not always. For example, last week it occurred only a couple of times (had R running more or less 24/7), yesterday at least 10 times. The computer is Dell D610,...

problem with fix() called from Rcmdr
Dear list members, I and my students have encountered an intermittent problem using the Rcmdr package (version 0.9-0) under Windows (with the SDI). The problem occurs both in versions 1.7.1 and 1.8.0 of R. The problem seems to occur only in the following context: The "Edit data set" button is pressed in the Rcmdr GUI. This executes the fix() function on the active data frame,...
