E400P woes
...four ups and then a down a bit later, followed by a pause, then the same again.) Changing span=1,0,0,css,hdb3 to use crc4 causes Asterisk to throw lots of yellow alarms when it starts. Putting a 1 in the timing field makes no discernable difference. The guy who tested the lines isn't very clueful - he just plugs in his gear and puts a tick in the box, but he's pretty sure it uses hdb3 coding. CAS framing makes the LED go RED. NetworkManager fights with DHCP-only backup NIC
...d ship it out to the site, where they just plug it in, turn it on, and walk away. That?s the ideal, anyway. What often happens in reality is either: 1. They give us incorrect static IP info, so the box arrives and won?t connect to the Internet, which means we often have to arrange to get someone clueful on-site to fix it. 2. The site is in the middle of some major deployment, a small piece of which is our server, so the LAN isn?t ready, but they demand the box be shipped early anyway for some handwavy business reason. "No, we can?t tell you what static IP to use," they say. "Just...

radius support? (was Re: PAM on OPenBSD for OpenSSH?
...rther to my original question about PAM on OpenBSD for OpenSSH, it may be non-trivial to get any PAM stuff onto OpenBSD (Thanks to Ben Lindstrom for his suggestion, which I'll try, using a gnu/loonucks PAM package, any suggestions for which one to use, or where to get it from? I'm not very clueful when it comes to GNU/linux). So, I remember in a past life hacking suport for other auth into erpcd (Annex TS's), and it wasn't rocket science to do, so I'd have to guess that hacking a radius client into openSSH wouldn't be too hard either? I've had the Merit one suggested, b...

...t if he's not at his desk, the call then goes to *Tammy's* voicemail. I've gone through the WIKI and mail archives looking for the solution, but it's sort of hard to conjure the correct search string, I have found. Hopefully I've paid my newbie dues thereby, and someone more clueful might be willing to help. . . Thanks. I have CLI traces if that would be necessary for someone to see. B.

klibc parisc64
I hacked out a rough first implementation of parisc64 for klibc last month, and only just got around to testing it now. The good news, it compiled fine on the first shot. The bad news, it failed to link usr/klibc/libc.so, and I'm not clueful enough to know why. hppa64-linux-gnu-ld -Ttext 0x40001000 -o usr/klibc/libc.so --start-group [...] usr/klibc/socketcalls/recvmsg.o /usr/lib/gcc/hppa64-linux-gnu/4.1.2/libgcc.a --end-group hppa64-linux-gnu-ld: warning: cannot find entry symbol main; defaulting to 0000000040001000 hppa64-linux-gnu-...

Wishlist item, POP3 welcome message
Hello, With qpopper you get something like this after a successful login: --- +OK test has 6 visible messages (0 hidden) in 11822 octets. --- This gives a clueful user or support people a quick status about the size of this mailbox, very helpful in full quota scenarios. Would be nice if the next dovecot would have such a feature as well. I doubt the same is (easily) applicable for IMAP (though would be trivial once maildirsize is supported). Another thin...

[Bug 2971] New: Prevent OpenSSH from advertising its version number

Mounts on Mac, Linux but not Win98 - bad password
I am trying to set up Samba for the very first time in my life on a SlackWare Linux 7.1 system. I'm using kernel 2.4.2, and the Samba 2.0.7 that comes precompiled with Slackware 7. I'm only moderately clueful at this point, but I have experience with other Linux and networking stuff. I can build Samba from sources if you think that would help. I ran through the diagnostic tests given on the Samba page somewhere and worked out a few problems already, but failed with "net view" as discussed be...

Question about ssh-add...
Evenin', I would like to know, why "OpenSSH ssh-add" doesn't support the -p (pipe) option of "Ssh-1.2.X shh-add"? I used it several time within scripts, like ./whisperpassphrase | ssh-add -p Well, I know this is some kind of security by obscurity, but this has been proven to be handy. SIP and NAT: try, try again.
In response to the SIP and NAT discussion, I have updated the ticket on the subject that seemed to be getting the most attention: #104. There are enough clueful people here that perhaps someone can come up with a patch that handles NAT in the elegant way that I describe in the bugnotes, as I am but a mere integrator who has limited C skills. In the absence of such a patch being offered, we await William Waites' patch and disclaimer which will at le...

iax encryption
Hi All, I was wondering if there is any way to encrypt IAX traffic? I am aware of the ability to use md5 or RSA for authentication, but I'm talking about the packets themselves, after authorization has already occured... Forgive me if this is documented somewhere, but I all I could find online was a presentation with the statement "there has been talk of adding encryption to the IAX

Commercial Asterisk Support? (Digium, etc.)
...quite a few so-so experiences, and a surprising number of negative experiences. Remarks about them being snowed under due to holidays also concern me. So, am I missing something? Are there a lot of happy Digium support people out there? If not, are there alternatives to Digium for exceptionally-clueful support? Bottom line: would I be making a mistake to recommend Digium support for a mission-critical application of Asterisk? Thanks, John

Can tdbtool be installed on it's own?
Hi guys, I have a Netgear ReadyNas that has Samba v3.4.5 installed on it. I'm having trouble accessing some tdb files and I'm wondering whether the app tdbtool can be installed on its own as it seems that Netgear have pulled it out. I have windows domain users who get denied access for no reason and the events aren't being caught my the standard logs. Plus Netgear force the smb.conf
