GIMP 2.4 on CentOS 5?
Hi, I'm using CentOS 5 on all our desktops here (work & home), and I'm quite happy with it. There's one detail I'd like to change. GIMP comes in version 2.2. There have been some changes in version 2.4, and it's also been around for quite some time. There are quite some functions in 2.4 that I'd like to use. As far as I understand, building GIMP 2.4 would involve

sum of digits or how to slice a number into its digits
Dear R colleagues, I face a seemingly simple problem I couldn't find a solution for myself so far: I have to sum the digits of numbers. Example: 1010 ->2 100100110 -> 4 Unfortunately there seems not to be a function for this task. So my idea was to use sum(x) for it. But I did not figure out how to slice a number to a vector of its digits. Example (continued from above): 1010 ->

More words for Allison
Here's the latest batch of words to get shipped out to Allison Smith. Please submit reasonably small changes to me by tomorrow 10:00 AM Eastern time, and I'll add them. As usual, donations to what will be a ~$110 USD expense would be appreciated, as I am paying for this round out of my pocket. Please send to paypal address "jtodd@loligo.com". I did not include all

tframe question - latest.start
I'm having some trouble figuring out latest.start in the tframe package. The results seem a bit cloudy. Sample session: > library(ts) > library(tframe) Loading required package: syskern > t1<-ts(c(1,2,3,4,5),start=1) > t2<-ts(c(1,2,3,4,5),start=2) > earliest.start(tbind(t1,t2)) [1] 1 1 > earliest.start(tbind(t2,t1)) [1] 1 1 > latest.start(tbind(t2,t1)) [1] 1 1

16-bit bytes support
> 16-bit byte was a major pain back in the day, and we never fixed all > known failures. In part, it's because C standard really wants 8-bit chars. So no real solution? > Btw, why is DCPU16 still a thing? :) https://github.com/techcompliant/. It's a separate team not related to Mojang which took the idea. They are on alpha now. Also because

Cisco 7940 and PJSIP registration
Thank you. I read that last yesterday afternoon, and I could've sworn I tried that but I will look into it again (I've tried so many different things it was getting cloudy what I've tried and what worked etc, combined that the extension config gets messed up after playing with it so much so I'm often recreating it as well). I also found a bug report in the FreePBX bug tracker

About the weather..
Ok, I've been away from the list for sometime now and feel as though I'm going to ask something that's been asked many times before, yet I find nothing in the wiki, so here goes: I notice that allison has done recordings for weather forecasts, yet I find no agi's that parse forecasts and use this recordings to piece together the forecast. I find plenty of weather agi's, but

dovecot replication and pop3 deletion
Hi, I am investigating the use of dovecot for a voicemail storage system (which is effectively a SMTP/POP3 system), which we want to use replication to give us some resilience. Tests have mostly been on dovecot 2.3.8 (9df20d2db) - as packaged on Centos 8 - but I have also used a couple of similar versions on different platforms, so this is not a specific build problem. The platform has

[Bridge] Option to forward *unconditionally* on a bridge?
TL;DR: Is there a way to force a bridge to forward anything and everything on all ports (except the ingress port) *regardles* of any permanent FDB entries (such as the MAC addresses of interfaces acting as bridge ports)? For context, I'm using a network-namespace (container) based simulator (think GNS3 or CORE), which allow me to run multiple FRR instances in their own dedicated netns,

Watch out, 5.5 is coming!
Yes, it is that time of year again: The weather is cold and cloudy, the sun doesn't show itself very often, so it must be CentOS release time! This time we'd like to offer CentOS 5.5 to the world - and the CentOS Live CD, too. So if you have a little time: the beginnings of the Release Notes can be found under <http://wiki.centos.org/Manuals/ReleaseNotes/CentOS5.5>, the first stub

How to export a classification model from R to a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)
Dear R users, my search for a possibility to convert a generated model into VHDL to program an FPGA has still no solution. The problem: caret -> training -> model -> model.rds -> model.xml (PMML) --?--> VHDL-Code --?--> FPGA The (simplified) task: A photo detector with 16 channels is measuring the intensity of 16 different wavelength ranges. These data are classified with the

ANOVA(L, Terms...)
Hi There I have a lm object with 4 parameters and I want to test wether 2 parameters are equal using a Wald test (basically b1=b2 or b1-b2 =0). In the help file from R it says that under ANOVA the optional arguments " Terms" or "L" test whether a linear combination is equal to 0. I tried; >anova(m1, Terms = Beta1-Beta2=0) but I get the error: Object " Beta1"

ksmooth in SPLUS vs R
I am working with a model that I have to estimate a nonparametric function. The model is partial linear i.e. Y=X$\beta$ + f(z) + $\epsilon$ I am using the ' double residual methods' Robinson (1988) Speckman (1988) where I estimate a nonparametric function for each of the parametric variables in terms of the nonparametric one i.e. X[,i]=g(Z)+ u this is done because I need the $E(
