ATA devices
Does anyone know of a 24 port ATA device that could be installed in a
phone closet? Like a channel bank, but, instead of multiplexing onto a
T-1 circuit, it would convert to SIP/RTP on a LAN connection.
Thanks,

Linksys SRW224P POE Switch
We are currently considering the Linksys POE switch for a small Asterisk
office deployment. There will be no separate wiring closet to put it
in. Can anybody tell me if this switch has a loud fan? Users would not
be able to tolerate a loud noise close by. Otherwise we will go with a
fanless desktop switch.
Thanks,

Headless Linux system for Asterisk
Because of space limitations and because of the location of the
punch-down blocks, my * server is located on the shelf in a coat closet.
Sadly, there is not enough space (or ventilation) for the monitor and
keyboard. This will all change when we move to new quarters, but...
Does anyone have experience running Linux/Asterisk without a monitor?
What, if any, are the issues?
TIA

Active directory sites & subnets

Visibly via RSAT, how would that look?

Finding cases in one subset that are closet to another subset
Good afternoon
Running R2.10.0 on Windows
I have a data frame that includes (among much else) a factor (In_2006) and a continuous variable (math_3_4). I would like to find the 2 cases for In_2006 = 0 that are closest to each case where In_2006 = 1.
My data looks like
In_2006 math_3_4
0 55.1
1 51.6
1 18.1
1 26.6

RFC3389 support issue with DG104S
I am getting (with older image):
RFC3389 support incomplete. Turn off on client if possible
How do I turn that off for the DG104s? Or if I can't how do I tweak
asterisk?
I see posts about ATA-186's having an audiomode, but the closet I came
to was inbanddtmf. I tried =0 and =1, no effect.
Thanks!

CD emulation (a la daemontools)
I was wondering if anyone was aware of a method for mounting virtual CD
devices with CD image files. I keep images (.CUE/.BIN pairs) of my CD
collection on a NAS appliance tucked away in my closet. I'd like to
write a script to mount each one, create ID tags, rip the tracks, then
move along to the next one. I figure with a quad core opteron, it
should be able to crank through them in a

fit data with skew t distribution
Hi,
Is there a function in R that I can use to fit the data with skew t
distribution? Speaking in detail, I first used the kernel density estimation
to fit my data, then I drew the skew t using my specified location, scale,
shape, and df to make it close to the kernel density. Now I want to get the
parameter estimations of the skew t which give me the closet density to the
kernel density.

I went for C6 on a Samsung NC10 (1.6GHz Atom N270 1GB RAM), only because it
refused to boot off the C7 ISO for some reason, and I didn't want to

Active directory sites & subnets
Hello,
Reading about, specifically in the wiki
<https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Active_Directory_Sites> link, says the
following about subnets.
"Create a subnet entry for all subnets in your network and assign them to a
site:"
The subnet on which our DCs are configured is a public IP block, but the
client machines are in a subnet with a private address block.
Do I need to

WWDC Puppeteer lunch
Reminder for Mac Puppeteers going to WWDC
How about we meet for lunch at noon on Tuesday. Let''s try to get the
table closet to the Odwalla refrigerator, just for reference. We can
get more specific on this list on the 8th after we verify the set up.
I might even get there a little earlier and put down "reserved" tags.

Hardware Vendors
Hi All!
Can anyone direct me to any websites / manufacturers out there who are
making small, put-it-in-the-closet-and-forget-it type systems for
building routers, home gateway servers, that sort of thing?
My fantasy machine for this purpose would be along the lines of a
mini-itx system with external power supply, dual Ethernet interfaces on
board, and one PCI slot available. If it had one

ATA-over-Ethernet v's iSCSI
Nick,
What are you planning on running over the shared connection? Database, eMail, File Shares? How many users? How much data? What is your I/O profile?
I've worked with 'enterprise' storage most of my career either as a consumer, adviser or provider - can't comment on AoE other than to suggest you look at what are the business & technical goals, how they solve it and what

best way to ensure integrity of flac source files?
if there was a flac-users list i'd be asking these questions there, but
anyway =)
on windows, i've been using eac in secure mode and using "test & copy" to
verify that the crc checksums match. invariably, i'll get one or two
mismatches per album i rip, so i figure the checksum verification is a good
thing despite the extra time. once i rip a cd, i want to forget

Realtime Queue Status for Agents
Hello,
I am having a problem which stems from the fact that the Agents that
handle my call queues are unaware if there are are people waiting in the
queue. I have found the following configuration options but they are
not very helpful.
in queues.conf:
announce=xxx
The "announce = XXX" option in queues.conf makes Asterisk play the XXX
announcement to the member of the queue who

Upgrading samba3 to samba4 on a new server, and running them both at the same time

I would like to upgrade to samba4 on a new server, but would like to test

Email Alerts for Multiple UPSs with upssched
Greetings Gentlebeings,
I have started deploying a number of NUT instances on Raspberry Pi machines (Raspbian Jessie) across my network. The purpose of these "nutcases" as we refer to them is to monitor the status of the UPSs supporting our network switching infrastructure and notify us of power and battery events via email. No shutdown or other actions are required.
Everything is

Where is my bottleneck?
I'm running rsync via ssh on two machines connected with 100 Mbit/s
Ethernet cards (at high speed) via a Linksys switch. It's all right
here in a single closet. I'm sending large files (initial transfer,
nothing preexists on the destination machine) and seeing transfer rates
in the 2 Mbit/s range. The CPUs on both machines are more than 90%
idle, and I upped the --block-size to 256

Brainstorm: Running Asterisk as cool as possible - AKA solid state.
I would like to ask what people think the best way would be to build a
low-power consumption, passively-cooled system.
For example, one could use a fanless-Eden (mini-ITX/EPIA) system, but the
loss of FPU power would limit performance. The obvious choice for FPU
work are the Intels and AMDs, nut they're all power-hungry radiators.
Is there something that can offer the quiet, power-savings of
