Can not modprobe acpi-cpufreq.ko in CentOS 5.2
...les have been distributed in Centos. But recently,
I met a problem when I tried to test the power-related applications.
The module can not be modprobed in kernel notwithstanding releated
with Centos distribution.
The messgae thrown out is:
------------- dump of screen ------------
# modprobe p4-clockmod.ko
FATAL: Module p4_clockmod.ko not found

However, the module is there. If I search the kernel path:

acpi for Intel p45 chipset (C2Duo)
...y of 2.8Ghz but bogoMips is unchanged and reflects OC'ed value. There are supposed to be 8 throttling states, but acpi-cpufreq (driver) only uses 3 states (1.6 Ghz - 2.8 Ghz).
Has anyone found another driver to work better? I tried
speedstep-centrino
but it refuses to load. There is also p4-clockmod too, but I had doubts about it. Is this the best I can do?
So far benchmarks are very good and the acpi power management does not hurt them.

CONFIG_CPU_FREQ change
To my surprise, c/s 8888 enables CPU_FREQ for x86-64 rather than disabling it for i386. Did anyone at your end actually
test that if enabled this at least builds properly now? Not to mention that of course this also should work... If I
remember right, the main reason for posting a patch to disable it on 32-bits (similar to how it was on 64-bits before)
was that there were some missing symbols, and

timekeeping on VMware guests
Howdy,
I am having time-drift issues on my CentOS VM. I had referred to
following documentation:
http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/VMWare_Server , however it didn't
help. I used kickstart for creating this VM and I am listing important
steps in ref to timekeeping issue. Any comments or suggestion would be
appreciated.

[PATCH 0 of 2] [RFC] Patches to work with processor-passthru driver (v1).
These two patches provide the neccessary infrastructure changes
for the processor-passthru driver [www.spinics.net/lists/linux-acpi/msg34655.html]
to properly function.
The first one is quite easy - we just modprobe the processor-passthru driver.
The second allows it to work under AMD machines by exposing the PM RDMSR
to dom0. It has been tested with 2.6.32 kernel as well to make sure it does

linux-2.6-xen.hg
Hi,
Is the http://xenbits.xensource.com/linux-2.6-xen.hg tree still being
updated? if not, what''s the preferred Linux tree to track that has all
of the Xen bits?
Thanks,
Muli
