Negative binomial regression for count data
Dear list, I would like to fit a negative binomial regression model as described in "Byers AL, Allore H, Gill TM, Peduzzi PN., Application of negative binomial modeling for discrete outcomes: a case study in aging research. J Clin Epidemiol. 2003 Jun;56(6):559-64" to my data in which the response is count data. There are also 10 predictors that are count data, and I have also 3 categorical and 2 continious predictors. There is overdispersion in the distribution of the response variable (mean=2.8, variance=28) as well a...

Statistics and Bioinformatics Positions, Novartis Molecular Diagnostics, Cambridge MA USA and Basel, Switzerland
...My group at Novartis is looking for statisticians, bioinformaticians, or R programmers to support molecular diagnostics, with open positions in Cambridge MA, USA (priority) and in Basel Switzerland (possible). We do a range of data analyses across product lifecycle (research, tech dev, clin dev, market access) to support the development of prognostic and predictive diagnostics. And of course, our main computational platform is R (using Emacs / ESS / org-mode for workflow, SNOW and add-ons for computation, etc), on a mixture of Microsoft and Linux workstations and cl...

R validation. If you know what you want, it's simple. If you don't know what you need to do, there are problems...(with any validation)
...ome very good companies that can help with this, who can tell you what specifications you want to meet, and what you will require. In my opinion, they might even be able to do it without going too wrong. (disclaimer: I work for one of the largest pharmas as a pointy-headed boss, and my group (not clin statistics, but in clinical development and on the regulated side) will be using R and Linux for clinical work as soon as we (well, I) finish some paperwork. Of course, read Dilbert if you think I'm making any sense...). best, -tony blindglobe at gmail.com Muttenz, Switzerland. "Commit...
