Can i attach another qdisc (htb) under HFSC classfull ?
Hi,
Is it possible to attach another qdisq under a HFSC classfull ?
I try it and the configuraton works :

$TC class add dev $dev parent 1: classid 1:1 hfsc sc rate
${RATE}mbit ul rate ${RATE}mbit

Some questions remaining about TC
Hello everybody,
I try to work with TC for a little while in my study and there still are a few
questions that I can\''t find any answer anywhere.
Firts about qdisc and classes:
- What is exactly the difference between qdsic and class ? They are
so \"intimately tied together\" that i\''m not sure not make the difference. Why
can\''t we have a qdsic HTB with

Is it possible to shape variable bandwidth?
...0 using HTB?
Classes must have guarantied rate calculated from 115kbit possible rate (for example 3 classes) and the possibility to borrow up to 1mbit (depends on ISP side).
If it''s impossible, than how to define additional class for excess bandwidth from 115kbit up to 1mbit?
Can be other classfull or classless qdisc used in this case?
Best regards,

tc questions
Hi to all of you!!!
I am a Computer Science student trying to do the pre-grade thesis. I am trying
to develop a free software tool to help administrators to control the
traffic. Right now this tool is based on tc and iptables.
I am having some problems trying to understand tc and tc examples:
- Why in almost every list of tc rules based on htb class, there is a "tc

More on qdiscs
I notice one other small problem with my modified version of SFQ.
The fact that packets can be dropped at dequeue time is incompatible
with the way HTB (and probably CBQ and others modeled on it) keep
statistics. When I fill a low rate queue causing packets to expire
and be dropped at dequeue I get interesting statistics like this:
This is my variant of SFQ

Info about IFB
Hi, I''m looking for info about IFB devices and how I can use it to
incomming traffic shapping.
Has IFB any web about it?
Do any body known where I can find more info about it?
I found this:
http://linux-net.osdl.org/index.php/IFB
But I can''t stand fine how to use it to allow many ifb''s devices or how
to use it with "tc actions".
Any help?
Thanks

Patch to allow for the ATM "cell tax"
I have been trying to optimise my ADSL connections for VOIP.
Funny things were happening - for example increasing the ping
packet size by 50% had no effect, but then adding one byte
had a major effect. It took me a while to figure out that I
was seeing the effects of the fixed ATM cell size.
This is probably obvious to some of you. For the rest: ADSL
uses ATM as its transport. An ATM

dsmark and HTB
...rned HTB and dsmark. They work properly, but I can''t combine them
like this:
tc qdisc add DSMARK handle 1:0 ...
tc class modify 1:1 ...
tc class modify 2:2 ...
...
tc qdsic add parent 1:1 HTB ...
tc qdsic add parent 1:2 HTB ... -> RTNETLINK answers: File exists
Isn''t dsmark classfull?
How could I change DSCP field and limit outgoing rate?
OK, I can create a HTB "tree" and put a dsmark qdisc at all the leaf
classes, but that seems a bit ugly to me...

Problems setting up nested qdisc, feedback to LARTC HOWTO
Hi all,
based on the information in the "Linux Advanced Routing & Traffic
Control HOWTO", I was trying to set up traffic shaping on my firewall.
While I found the HOWTO very useful, in the process I ran into some
problems that I did not forsee: According to the HOWTO it seems that
it should have worked, even after spending some time going through the
sections looking for answers,

(no subject)
Hi all,
I''m having a hell of a time getting my IFB to work. I know I''ve done
this before, so I''m missing something stupid. Can anybody tell me what
it might be?
Configs as follows:
--------
#!/bin/sh
modprobe ifb numifbs=1000
modprobe act_mirred
modprobe 8021q
brctl addbr br0
brctl setfd br0 0
brctl stp br0 off
brctl addif br0 eth1
brctl addif br0 eth2
ifconfig eth1

IFB & 802.1q
Hello
What I''m looking for is how to configure the Linux QoS module to do
global rate limitation for two (or more) 802.1q pseudo network devices.
I naturally suppose there is a possibility with IFB. I don''t want to use
IMQ because it''s not integrated to my kernel v2.6.21.1 and I didn''t find
IMQ patches for it nor for the iptables package I use (v1.3.7).

IPV4 is nearly depleted, are you ready for IPV6?
Seeing as IPV4 is near it's end of life
(http://www.internetnews.com/infra/article.php/3915471/IPv4+Nearing+Final+Days.htm),
I'm curios as who know whether everyone is ready for the changeover to
IPV6?
Is anyone using it in production already, and what are your experiences with it?
