plotting multivariate data and lm()
...perienced users but I didn't find it looking in usual documentation or in the mail archive... Let's say I use a dataset like : a <- sort(round(rnorm(90),3)) niv <- factor(c(rep('B',30), rep('E', 30), rep('H',30)),labels=c('B','E','H')) cl3 <- factor(rep(sequence(1:3),15)) mat <- cbind(a,niv,cl3) let's say I want a model like : mod <- lm(a~niv*cl3) #silly, just for example I want to obtain a scatterplot of 'a' vs. 'cl3', taking into account the value of 'niv' so I use : plot(a~as.integer(...

parameterization of glm nested design
Dear R community, I am new to R, a reforming SAS user :) I am running R 2.10.1 on a Windows XP machine. I would like to write linear functions of my coefficient parameter estimates from a glm, but am having a difficult time understanding the parameterization R uses. In the toy example below I am running a glm on binomial data, with clones and lines within clones as fixed effects, each with 6

plot clusters
Hi, I have a dataset which has more than two clusters (say 3 clusters). I used kmeans to cluster the dataset. I am wondering how I can plot the clustering result on a two-dimensional figure???? The example in the kmeans help file is as follows: x <- rbind(matrix(rnorm(100, sd = 0.3), ncol = 2), matrix(rnorm(100, mean = 1, sd = 0.3), ncol = 2)) cl <- kmeans(x, 2, 20)

Parallel computing: how to transmit multiple parameters to a function in parLapply?
Hi R-developers In the package Parallel, the function parLapply(cl, x, f) seems to allow transmission of only one parameter (x) to the function f. Hence in order to compute f(x, y) parallelly, I had to define f(x, y) as f(x) and tried to access y within the function, whereas y was defined outside of f(x). Script: library(parallel) f <- function(x) { z <- 2 * x + .GlobalEnv$y # Try to

hist function in a for loop
Dear all, I need to create a for-loop in which I can compute multiple histograms My code is the following : #singlefile includes huge csv file #I want to specify the binsize #I would like to compute in the for -loop the histograms numfiles <- length(singlefile) for (i in 1 :51) { binsize <- -20 :20/2 hist(singlefile(singlefile$GVC[singlefile$new_id==i]], break=seq(),

recording packet sent time
...writing a qdisc scheduler (called fb in the diagram) that does certain packet delaying and other stuff. (for egress traffic) root (htb/tbf) | --------------- cl1 cl2 | tbf -------- | | cl3 cl4 | | *fb* fifo Now I need to record the time when packets leaves the system. I can''t do it in fb since the packet *may* experience buffering delay in higher level token bucket. I was wondering what are my options for such an implement...

experinental revision of the 'snow' package
A new version of the 'snow' package for parallel computing in R is available at http://www.stat.uiowa.edu/~luke/R/cluster/snow_0.3-3.tar.gz This substantially revises the way in which worker processes are started to allow snow to be used on Windows and Mac/Windows/Linux combinations. I have successfully used the SOCK version on a standalone Windows machine and combinations of

two 2-node clusters or one 4-node cluster?

two 2-node clusters or one 4-node cluster?
Hello, I'm planning migration of current two clusters based on CentOS 6.x with Cman/Rgmanager going to CentOS 7.x and Corosync/Pacemaker. As the clusters and their services are on the same subnet, and there no particular security concerns differentiating them, I'm also evaluating the option to transform the two clusters into a unique 4-node one during the upgrade. Currently I'm

The best motherboard for a home ZFS fileserver
I''m a fan of ZFS since I''ve read about it last year. Now I''m on the way to build a home fileserver and I''m thinking to go with Opensolaris and eventually ZFS!! Apart from the other components, the main problem is to choose the motherboard. The offer is incredibly high and I''m lost. Minimum requisites should be: - working well with Open Solaris ;-) -

[PATCH 0/9] tools: remove or disable old/useless/unused/unmainted stuff
depends on "autoconf: regenerate configure scripts with 4.4 version" This series removes some of the really old deadwood from the tools build and makes some other things which are on their way out configurable at build time with a default depending on how far down the slope I judge them to be. * nuke in tree copy of libaio * nuke obsolete tools: xsview, miniterm, lomount & sv *
