...stop working? R release 4.3? Same problem here. It has been reported before to be a major nuisance if you're working in an environment with a need for security and data protection. Unfortunately, it seems it has been decided to go for this regression of functionality. In our case we managed to circumnavigate the problem by building a local CRAN mirror inside our firewall using the open source Nexus repository. Seems a bit overkill (given that wininet has done the trick nicely up to now), but at least it works. HTH. \Gisbert

...e please tell me how this may affect the result from the dist() command - because a '0' in a distance matrix means that the two variables are identical doesnt it(?) - but I dont want tthings clustered together simply because there was no information. Hello! At first, i want to run the latest HandBrake (version 0.93) on a Mac with Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger). The problem is, that Handbrake is developed for Mac OS 10.5 (XCode SDK is not compatible to Mac OS 10.4 one). So i decided to try it with wine/darwine. Because wine is better supported on Linux and you can get easier newer version (apt-get), i decided to run HandBrakeCLI.exe on Debian Etch
