Samba running as PDC and BDC
...ocess of investigating whether it's viable to replace our NT
server domain with a linux server domain using SAMBA. The key is if Samba
can act as a PDC, with other Samba BDCs in remote locations. Is this
possible?

question about security, UID, and /var/log/messages
...do is
figure out where the security is failing. If for some reason, the linux
server doesn't know how to map my Nt username to the passwd username and
the samba encrypted password username, then I need to know how to debug
that..

Question about new Samba 3 rc4 and BDC
I have looked a bit through some of the archives for this list, and I have
caught different ideas on this matter.. I've also read through the
HOWTOs on how to do this stuff, but I haven't received the same results
that I was expecting, so I need someone to help me out a bit, give me a
definite YES or NO and if YES, how?
I have the latest release candidate of samba 3 installed on redhat-9.

Problem printing with WinXP and samba
I am having problems printing from my XP machine to a printer hosted from
a linux redhat 8 w/samba2.2.7-2 installed. I can see the printer fine
from \\[server] (browsing from network places) and I can see other shares
and stuff, but once I install the printer, it says "access denied, unable
to connect". So I'm assuming that I need to set security on a file
somewhere, but since

Samba 3.0 is WORKING
I would just like to give a success report, since this list gets mostly
bugs and questions..
Due mainly to the help that this list provided, I am now able to
successfully deploy Linux/Samba servers in our corporate domain, and allow
remote offices to function as part of our vast windows domain. Things are
working, and the $$$ it has saved us is almost unmeasurable.
Again, thanks for your help,

Using WINBIND and the latest samba 3
I've been tooling with this for a while, and I need some help... please!!
:)
Here's what I'm trying to do. I want a samba server to work with winbind,
so that when I type 'getent passwd' it shows a list of local users, as
well as my domain user list. I want a user to be able to ssh into the
machine using their NT 4 domain username, like domain\username. That's

Error in message logs with samba-3.0.14a-2
Okay, here's the background.
Fedora Core 4, all recent updates. Using samba-3.0.14a-2. Trying to
mount a remote shared folder, and sharing it for local users in my
office. Using /etc/fstab to auto-mount it on bootup.
Here is the /etc/fstab line that I use to do this:
//share/ccc /gobo smbfs
username=XXXXX,password=XXXXXX,uid=10395,gid=30038,fmask=770,dmask=770 0 0
I use winbind to
