ACL ignored on cifs mounted share
...it again :-)
Here is what I did, (I actually mounted my home dir on my laptop to
another machine)
The share in smb.conf on my laptop is simply this:
[homes]
comment = Home Directories
browseable = no
read only = no
I created a new user on the DC:
samba-tool user add cifsuser
Gave 'cifsuser' a uidNumber and gidNumber
Next on the client:
Extract and merge a keytab:
cd /etc
ktutil
ktutil: add_entry -password -p cifsuser at EXAMPLE.COM -k 1 -e arcfour-hmac
Password for cifsuser at EXAMPLE.COM:
ktutil: wkt cifs.keytab
ktutil: rkt krb5.keytab
ktutil: rkt cifs...

cifs mounts in smbfstab
Hello,
I have the following in /etc/samba/smbfstab;
//msserver/share /mnt/smb-share cifs
file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777,credentials=/etc/cifsusers/admin,rw
However, when using 'mount /mnt/smb_dir' I get;
mount: can't find /mnt/smb_dir in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab
Using 'mount -a' doesn't mount either.
If I use "smbmount /mnt/smb_dir" I get;
Could not resolve mount point
I get the same error if I use th...

Samba4 automount schema: convert from flat files to LDAP
...iguration,DC=hh3,DC=site
dn: CN=automountMap,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=hh3,DC=site
1. Samba fires up fine. Does that look about right?
2. I now have to convert the following files to LDAP syntax:
/etc/auto.master
/home/users /etc/auto.users
and:
/etc/auto.users
* -fstype=cifs,sec=krb5,username=cifsuser,multiuser ://altea/users/&
There's so much unreadable stuff out there. Do we have anything
followable for this? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Cheers,
Steve

autofs + cifs + kerberos
I'm having an issue with autofs mounting cifs using kerberos, on machines
joined to an S4 domain controller. Both hosts and S4 server are CentOS 6,
and the DC is running samba-4.1.11 from sernet.
Autofs is getting it's maps from LDAP from the DC. This part works
fine, automount -m shows:
Mount point: /share
source(s):
instance type(s): sss
map: auto.share

Cannot chown file to active directory user/group on member server

SAMDOM\domain users:x:10000:
root at dc1:~# getent passwd rowland
SAMDOM\rowland:*:10000:10000:Rowland Penny:/home/rowland:/bin/bash
If I run the same two commands on a domain member:
root at member1:~# getent group Domain\ Users

root at member1:~# getent passwd rowland
rowland:*:10000:10000::/home/rowland:/bin/bash
Virtually the same info.
This still doesn't answer why you are getting different info though.
Have you set up nsswitch correctly and do you have the required
libnss_winbind links...

mount.cifs and kerberos failure
Hi guys,
This seems to be a well-known problem with mount.cifs on Ubuntu 12.04. Unfortunately, although I have applied the suggestions I found with google, I can't seem to be able to get mount.cifs to work with kerberos. I am trying to use kerberos to mount my Windows shares because this is the only allowed secure way in my company to connect to shares. Before anyone asks, I can successfully

Building a http query string including SMBIOS Serial Number to load a specific kernel
Hello folks,
There is a way to get the system serial number from SMBIOS and pass it
as HTTP query string to get the kernel and initrd?
Something like this:
LABEL OS Download
MENU LABEL Clonezilla
MENU INDENT 1
KERNEL http://192.168.10.10/kernel.php?type=kernel (
http://myserver/kernel.php?SN=SMBIOS_SERIAL_NUMBER&type=kernel
)&SN=SMBIOS_SERIAL_NUMBER
