Share root directory appears in subdirectories. (Well, can't actually see it but can cd into it, even if its not there.) (Serious bug?)
...nd a bit and found the following out: The problem appears when a directory has the same name as the mount point. I can even 'cd' into a directory which isn't there: (Mount point is gstorage, share name is gstorage too, don't know if this matters, I haven't investigated it) /cifsmounts/gstorage$ cd anydir /cifsmounts/gstorage/anydir$ cd gstorage /cifsmounts/gstorage/anydir/gstorage$ Crazy. I seem to be in the root of the share again(!), even if the directory gstorage doesn't exist in 'anydir'. I called it anydir, because it works from any directory (but it must be...

net command in sernet -samba 3.4 for RHEL
After upgrading a test machine to Sernet's 3.4 package, it looks like the "net" command is gone. This was definitely there in the redhat-supplied 3.0 build and I thought it was there in sernet's 3.3 build too. I installed all the rpm's - samba3-client, samba3-utils, samba3-cifsmount.... am I missing something? -- Adam Cohen / IT Manager Energy Biosciences Institute /

Problems with Winbind Idmap and Active Directory 2008 r2

Question about mount.cifs and smbclient
Hi! I have a problem for a few weeks, and can't figure out what could be the problem. The client computer runs RHEL 5.2 (arch: x64_64); the smb server is unknown for us. I'm sorry, that I can't provide any info (usernames, servernames, IPs, etc), they are masked to look like variables. But they are correct as far as i am concerned. When I try to mount it with mount.cifs (.smbfs

AD 3.3.x issues
I have a 3.2.8 samba server (centos4) connected to AD which works perfectly. My other machine 3.3.0 was suffering from a bug where MAC users would copy a file to the network and would get an error message regarding permissions, which I tracked down to it creating ._files and putting MAC permission on files, which 3.2.8 doesn't do. Unable to solve that I upgraded to 3.3.2 which did solve the

problems with winbind, ads on 3.0.25rc3
I am having a problem getting active directory domain users to authenticate on my gentoo and debian systems with v3.0.25rc3 when it worked perfectly with v3.0.24. I am wondering if it is something in my configure options. Wbinfo returns users, groups and the rpc call test succeeds. The getent command only shows the local users. I have double checked my nsswitch.conf as well to make sure that

cifs mount issue (cannot read files)
In version 3.0.23a (as a file server), I've noticed that CIFS clients (mount samba shares as cifs) get read errors. For example, if the vi a text file on the share, they get a read error. If the more a text file, nothing comes back, but the prompt. In 3.0.10 (pre configured by Centos, not compiled by me) this is not a problem. Here are my 3.0.23a options during configure:

libpthread warning while compiling samba 3.0 on Suse Linux (SLES 10)
I compile Samba for the first time on LINUX (SLES 10) and have a weird libpthread warning message. I dug the list to find some explanations about the way I have to handle this problem, without success. Below are the 'configure' parameters and the part of config.log about libpthread. Is there a way to not link libpthread to avoid this performance degradation ? What must I do with this
