Active/Passive Samba Cluster for Shared NFS Backend
...sharing an NFS mount so that it can be
accessible to CIFS clients. Thus, the server setup is as follows:
-- cifs0 --
/ \
/ \
NFS_Server VIP --- CIFS clients
\ /
\ /
-- cifs1 --
The NFS export is mounted at the same place on both cifs0 and cifs1, /mnt/nfs.
I have configured "lock directory" to point at a directory inside of the NFS
share:
lock directory = /mnt/nfs/locks
I then configured a share:
test]
path = /mnt/nfs/test
browseable = yes
public = yes...

Server variable %L expansion
I have been successfully using the technique of creating "virtual
servers" via the method outlined below in my smb.conf file.
[global]
netbios name = %h
workgroup = WORKGROUP
netbios aliases = cifs1 cifs2
include = /etc/samba/smb.conf.%L
Now under Red Hat ES release 4 with kernel "2.6.9-11.EL" and Samba
version "samba-3.0.10-1.4E" the variable expansion of %L for
either /etc/samba/smb.conf.cifs[1,2] does not seem to work anymore.
Anyone have any thought...

Can we recover a deleted directory?
Hello Experts;
There was a CIFS share we were using /export/cifs1 . It got deleted
accidently.
Is there any way I can recover this directory. We don''t have snapshot
for this directory.

...Do you see a configuration that
can use root squashed mboxes and LMTP ?
Should test_access() variant could be used as access() replacement ?
There is eaccess() and euidaccess() too but may be not portable enough
(_GNU_SOURCE only).
