Sorry, but no, I don't think this is a good idea (yet), most distros do not have a new enough version of chrony for it to work. Put it on the Samba wiki that you can use chrony instead of ntp and most users will miss that you need a version of chrony that their distro cannot supply. Rowland

Chrony vd NTP
I have read: http://thegeekdiary.com/centos-rhel-7-chrony-vs-ntp-differences-between-ntpd-and-chronyd/ My server is up all the time and will serve time to internal systems (via DHCP options). Caveat is that my server is an armv7 (Cubieboard2) which does not have an RTC (no battery). So whenever the system boots, the time is ZERO (Dec 31, 1969 or som...

chrony configuration for secondary samba DC
Hi I'm running samba 4.7.6 on ubuntu 18.04 as (backup / secondary) domain controller that joined to an Existing Active Directory (Windows 2012R2 server). The question is about Time Synchronization across the domain. How should I configure chrony v3.2 in order to provide time synchronization: 1. between main Windows DC and Samba DC 2. Between Samba DC and windows clients in case when Windows DC is unavailable -- *Alexei*
