vectorized sub, gsub, grep, etc.
R pattern-matching and replacement functions are vectorized: they can operate on vectors of targets. However, they can only use one pattern and replacement. Here is code to apply a different pattern and replacement for every target. My question: can it be done better? sub2 <- function(pattern, replacement, x) { len <- length(x) if (length(pattern) == 1) pattern <-

Hello, everyone, I have a question about integration of product of two densities. Here is the sample code; however the mean of first density is a function of another random variable, which is to be integrated. ## f=function(x) {dmvnorm(c(0.6, 0.8), mean=c(0.75, 0.75/x))*dnorm(x, mean=0.6, sd=0.15)} integrate(f, lower=-Inf, upper=Inf) ## error message Error in dmvnorm(c(0.6, 0.8), mean =

l2arc current usage (population size)
Hello, How do you tell how much of your l2arc is populated? I''ve been looking for a while now, can''t seem to find it. Must be easy, as this blog entry shows it over time: And follow up, can you tell how much of each data set is in the arc or l2arc? -- This message posted from

[LLVMdev] Supporting heterogeneous computing in llvm.
Hello All, The last two months I have been working on the design and implementation of a heterogeneous execution engine for LLVM. I started this project as an intern at the Qualcomm Innovation Center and I believe it can be useful to different people and use cases. I am planning to share more details and a set of patches in the next days. However, I would first like to see if there is an interest

X-fold cross validation function for discriminant analysis
Hi all, I ran a discriminant analysis with some data and want to get a general idea of prediction error rate. Some have suggested using X-fold cross validation procedure. Anyone know if there is a function for this in R? Thanks, Wade [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

server hang with compression on, ping timeouts from remote machine
Hello All, I am running NTFS over iSCSI on a ZFS ZVOL volume with compression=gzip-9 and blocksize=8K. The server is 2 core P4 3.0 Ghz with 5 GB of RAM. Whenever I start copying files from Windows onto the ZFS disk, after about 100-200 Mb been copied the server starts to experience freezes. I have iostat running, which freezes as well. Even pings on both of the network adapters are reporting

[LLVMdev] Supporting heterogeneous computing in llvm.
Christos, We would be very interested in learning more about this. In my group, we (Prakalp Srivastava, Maria Kotsifakou and I) have been working on LLVM extensions to make it easier to target a wide range of accelerators in a heterogeneous mobile device, such as Qualcomm's Snapdragon and other APUs....
