Where is the proper place to set the group ownership of devices under /dev/ in Centos3.
Dear list members,
I have a DVD writer /dev/scd0 which after reboot has the following ACL:
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 11, 0 Sep 9 2004 /dev/scd0
However I want to set this device group to "Domain Users" in order to
enable its members to burn DVDs.
If i invoke: #chgroup "Domain Users" /dev/scd0
the next reboot will override the group back to "disk".

Weird Problem with file permissions and samba
Hello Folks,
I have a samba server that i use as a file sharing system.
I change the old machine for a new Ahtlon X2.
Everything was perfect but when i did the installation and attribution
; i have the same problem!
The client (WINXP) keeps telling me that he cannot access to my
sharing folder due to permissions on the folder.
I did a 770 on the folder and the did a chgroup on it.

chown DOMAIN+mylogin /dir fails (Please help)
What can I look at to understand why chown keeps saying user does not
exist.
wbinfo -u/-g returns the user information
klist -v shows kerberos is working
net ads join works fine
wbinfo -t shows secret is fine
aix does not have getent so I can't run getent passwd -- is there
something equivalent on aix?

chroot-patch for 3.6.1p1?
Hi all,
I am looking for a chroot-patch like it was available for the 3.5p1 version. Does anybody has such a patch? Because chroot doesn't work with 3.6.1p1 under Reliant Unix 5.45 from Fujitsu-Siemens.

Retaining Permissions on a share
Hi all,
Sorry to repost about this same issue once again, but I'm really at a
complete loss as to how to solve the problem with ownership being changed
after I've set it.
I've set ownership as follows... ( set this by chmod -R 0770 HR, as well as
chgroup -R HR-Group, I then signed into a Windows PC that was part of the
domain, went to computer management as per the WIKI and chose
