Where is the proper place to set the group ownership of devices under /dev/ in Centos3.
Dear list members,
I have a DVD writer /dev/scd0 which after reboot has the following ACL:
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 11, 0 Sep 9 2004 /dev/scd0
However I want to set this device group to "Domain Users" in order to
enable its members to burn DVDs.
If i invoke: #chgroup "Domain Users" /dev/scd0
the next reboot will override the group back to "disk".
Is there a standard/reglamented way to set the group ownership of a device file.
Best regards!

Weird Problem with file permissions and samba
...I change the old machine for a new Ahtlon X2.
Everything was perfect but when i did the installation and attribution
; i have the same problem!
The client (WINXP) keeps telling me that he cannot access to my
sharing folder due to permissions on the folder.
I did a 770 on the folder and the did a chgroup on it.
But i still don't know what's happening.
I thought at first that it was the password but i can login to the
personal folder on the server (the /home folder); but i cannot write
on it.
If you can take a look on this i will be really appreciated !
Thanks,
Franck

chroot-patch for 3.6.1p1?
Hi all,
I am looking for a chroot-patch like it was available for the 3.5p1 version. Does anybody has such a patch? Because chroot doesn't work with 3.6.1p1 under Reliant Unix 5.45 from Fujitsu-Siemens.

Retaining Permissions on a share
Hi all,
Sorry to repost about this same issue once again, but I'm really at a
complete loss as to how to solve the problem with ownership being changed
after I've set it.
I've set ownership as follows... ( set this by chmod -R 0770 HR, as well as
chgroup -R HR-Group, I then signed into a Windows PC that was part of the
domain, went to computer management as per the WIKI and chose "connect to
remote computer" went to the sharing on this DC and under sharing only set
HR-Group, and then under permissions I set HR-Group, Domain Administrator,...
