unusual use of getenv
...lved as the commit messages from 2005 have something to be desired ;) I removed the whole function body from my local tree and `ninja check` was happy in release mode (amd64-linux-gcc-10.2). Given its age, and the fact that it's been through several iterations, I guess I've stumbled upon a Chesterton Fence and would appreciate some input on whether this is still needed. I see the original commit was Windows only, and was then updated to use `getenv` as a way to support this behaviour cross-platform. It's more weird than pernicious given that nothing is done with the result, but to me it fe...

[LLVMdev] Next Cambridge LLVM Social
Hi all, A bit ahead of schedule, I want to announce the next LLVM social on the 21st October (Wed), because it'll be on a different place: The Tivoli, Chesterton Road http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/home/pubs/the-tivoli It's not as close to the train station as The Cambridge Blue, but it's not too far either. David Chisnall tells me it's a much nicer pub, and much cheaper than the Blue, (and much closer to his house). If you have anything again...

[LLVMdev] Cambridge LLVM Social (new place!)
Just a reminder, the Cambridge LLVM Social is this Wednesday, 7:30pm at the The Tivoli, Chesterton Road: http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/home/pubs/the-tivoli This pub is a bit further away from the train station, but has been highly praised by David, so if you don't like it, blame him. If people are interested in coming pre-Christmas, we can try a fancier pub in December (but that might req...

classes defined in nodes
I just discovered something interesting: node server.example.org { class A { ... } } The above doesn''t do anything. node server.example.org { include A class A { ... } } The above works. I was under the impression that classes defined within a node were assumed to be part of that node. I learned something new today. -- Digant C Kasundra

Gems looking in the wrong dir
Hello, When I tested out SVN 1987, puppetmasterd barfs because gems is looking in puppet/rails/lib no puppet/rails. This is under FC6 with gems/rails installed from source. The simple fix for me was to create the directory lib and link the files in /puppet/rails there. .r'' Original error: # puppetmasterd --debug /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:27:in

Resources...
Hi, I''d like to be able to create certain admin users on certain machines, and when I saw the new Resources feature, I thought I could use that. But I can''t get it to work. This is what it looks like: <snip> class admin { define adminuser { @user { $name: ensure => present, group => adm } file { "/home/$name": ensure =>

freebsd ports provider patch to use ports tree directly
The included patch is what I''ve been able to throw together in a few hours after studying the pkgtools code. All I''m using the library for at the moment is to resolve the proper base location of the ports tree, but at least by invoking make directly instead of through portupgrade it works *a lot* better. Is there a proper way to include/require a third party ruby library?

Using a single class multiple times
Hi- Recently starting using puppet while migrating an existing messy group of systems to some nice new hardware. Things are going incredibly well, and puppet''s functioning great. Have a bit of a headache. I''d like to keep myself from duplicating lots of included classes. Lets say I have this (snippet of a) class: class dbserver { file { "/etc/my_${db}.cnf":
