checkbook application
By any chance are there any free checkbook apps that have been written for Ruby? Looking to free myself from Gnucash/Grisbi/Quicken but don''t quite have the skills/time to make my own app. Has anyone done this and want to share? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Detecting numerical value in character variable
...verbose appoach. My question: CAN ONE BETTER DETECT NUMERIC DATA IN A CHARACTER VARIABLE? One first imagines trying, is.numeric("123") but this responds FALSE, telling us merely that this is a character string. This problem arises in an R program I have used for years to balance my checkbook, producing 5 lines identical to my bank's statement. I input my checkbook data from a file with one natural column having entries like (excluding # comments), 3117 #check number SALARY:10-1-01 #salary deposited on 10/1/2001 TRANSF:10-23-01 #transfer between accounts on 1...

Quicken NOT working on SuSE 8.0
...its own values in windows registry. Please use the script 'wine_set_default_reg' to set the values. This warning is printed every time but the update of the registry is needed only once after update of wine or windows. Finished. When I want to put a number in the checkbook registry I got the error from Quicken: Please enter an amount in the form nnnn.nn [ OK ] Certainly I put numbers in above form, but it was refused. When I want to leave the registry it warns me to save data, but invalin numbers:(( I see in the field in RED -xxxxxx Usually I do not...

Quicken2011 won't work under wine 1.3.30 Why???
I have wine 1.3.25 and Quicken 2011 install in Ubuntu 10.10. When I upgrade to wine 1.3.30, via the Upgrade Utilities, Quicken no longer works. It comes up to the checkbook, turns gray and stays there. When I click the exit "x" ( upper right corner) a message says it is not responding and I must "crash out" of Quicken. I even tried an all NEW 1.3.30 install of wine using the Ubuntu utilities and got the same results. Any ideas why?????? ..........

Version 2.0 with multiple IP/TLS certificate support.
Hello, I sent this email earlier but for some reason it did not go through so I will try again! I am using Dovecot on several servers that require multiple domain SSL certificates. I like Dovecot very much because of its speed and stability. Currently, Dovecot does not support multiple SSL certificates directly although I have gotten around this problem with multiple Dovecot instances

Some echo?
I have a 12 channel PRI with SNOM 190's and asterisk CVS from January. Most calls are fine, all incoming calls are fine, but I am getting echo on a significant number of outgoing calls. The person on the other side hears a perfect call, but the SIPphone side gets to hear themselves. It happens 100% of the time to some numbers (outgoing only), and only sporadically to others. Has anyone

Planning first Linux/Wine install
I'm planning my first Linux/Wine install. Is there any advantage to having a Windows (say W2K) partition to install Win apps to, when the plan is to run them under Wine/Linux? I do have a licensed copy of W2K, so I could do that if it were an advantage (e.g., is it easier to install difficult or unruly win apps under windows first?). Any other suggestions (I'm planning out my partition

analog or sip ? was far end disconnect supervision
Thanks to everyone that responded to my channel bank question. Ive decided that the Adit 600 would be a good choice. Then I got to thinking about SIP phones and wondered if their quality has progressed to the point that they can be deployed to customers who "just want their phones to work" and wouldn't tolerate any SIP hickups. As for pricing, I would think the SIP phones would

Trouble with WINE
Hello folks, I have the most recent version of WINE (20010305), and have been trying to run it with no luck until now. I have tried some very simple programs like notepad and solitaire, and both don't seem to work: all I get is a sh*itload (a REAL sh*itload) of font-related fixme's. Meanwhile, the system's load average increases, reaching a point where even the X server goes down
