Now the problem, when I try from my W2000 Workstation to change my
domain password I reach a error message:
UserName or Old password are wrong....Obviously these are right, not wrong.
Analizing samba log this is the message that I found:

check_oem_password: incorrect password length (1211185023).
My old password is of 7 chars, the new of 8 chars but I have the same
problems with password of other lengths, less and more.
If I try to change the password with:
smbpasswd -U <username> -r <PDC> i get this message...

check_oem_password: Incorrect password length
I'm currently investigating the appearance of this error message for a
significant number of our users' password change attempts. It would seem
from my research that this error occurs when the data coming from the
SamOEMhash function is not of the expected format/value. I do not know if
this would be due to incorrect data being sent into the SamOEMhash
function from the client or something

I appreciate help anyone can provide.

previous smbpasswd binary from the same version on the client linux

I searched a bit and found that this has something to do with hash
lengths, or so it seems. I tried various configuration changes in the
smb.conf that I was using to no avail -- I tried all the hash tuning and
lanman auth options...

Windows client password change error?
...ner. Using the Windows control panel, Passwords, I
am only allowed to change the password by first changing the
existing password to a blank password and then changing the blank
password to the desired password.
If I try to change the password directly I generate the error
"smbd/chgpasswd.c:check_oem_password(693)
check_oem_password: incorrect password length (2143573292)."
in the clients log.
I am using Slackware 7.1 and Samba-2.0.7. Any help would be greatly
appreciated...

Incorrect password length? I have tried passwords that were succesfull
using the standard passwd command, yet will fail under smbpasswd.
Boy, this is frustrating!
