WinNT4 reports "Network path not found" when accessing share over certain length
I've got a Samba 2.2.3a server up and running, and it is working great. No major problems, but one slight annoyance. There is a share setup called "testing-files". In Windows 2000, access to this share works fine (and in Win95/98 if I remember right), but in Windows NT 4, an error stating "Network path not found" is given. If I rename the share to "testfiles", it

changing the character set.
Hi list, I've set up a simple domain providing shared disk space to a small company. As an extension of this, I've connected satellite office via openvpn, and am mounting a chare on that site over cifs, and backing it up on to the main domain storage. This remote share is on windows XP, and it's throwing up a couple of errors due to incompatible wide characters - cp: cannot create regular file `/backup/My Documents/New Folder//\302 \267 test.gif': Invalid or inco...

Dear Samba Experts. I an quite new to samba but know the basics of creating chares and permissions, I think!!! Been digging into HOWTO for pdc logon using windows boxes. Having great difficulty in getting win2k to complete and logon to a samba 2.2.5 PDC configuration. Win98 is ok and runs the logon scripts as required. Problem installing Asterisk with Mandrake 9.1
Hi All, I am trying to get Asterisk up and running on my new Mandrake 9.1 install. I've installed Linux in the "standard" mandrake security mode, and "su" to do my attempts at install. I managed to obtain the source from CVS, and have been able to compile Zaptel. I then ran insmod zaptel, and also make config. I think I have compiled and loaded Zaptel successfully as

....' (dot) is in the name Here is one observation I have made. When I deleted my share, [test], on the Windows 95 system and added nt smb support = no to my globals and restarted samba, I had several files disappear. I know that file names do get cached and will remain cached unless the chare is removed and remapped. Can you delete or have you already deleted your [users2] or [users6] share and remap them after removing nt smb support = no from your smb.conf files and restarting samba? - Medha ____________________________________________________ Medha Date t/l:...
