[Asterisk-Dev] OPAL now supports IAX2
August 5th, 2005:
Craig Southeren announced today that OPAL (http://www.voxgratia.org)
now provides support for the IAX2 protocol(Written by Derek Smithies
and released under the MPL). This support allows you to use
chan_woomera (http://www.pbxfreeware.org) driver developed by Anthony
Minessale II to interconnect your asterisk systems and use the IAX2,
SIP, and H.323 protocols.
I would like to thank everyone involved in Cluecon for all their
support!
Thanks guys!

*Update Jul 2007:* For a T.38 gateway you can use Asterisk 1.4's
T.38pass-through support in combination with the new OPAL (Open Phone
Abstraction Library) - using t38modem (currently CVS) which now supports SIP
(and not just H.323) to terminate T.38 calls. You can also use OPAL and
chan_woomera to do essentially the same.
Where can you find this t38modem stuff ?
Google replies things that doesn't seem to match (T.38-SIP termination).
Regards

Any plans for proper faxing support
I have already tried to contact to persons from Digium and I did not
receive a response.
I was wondering if there is any plan to support fully faxing in
Asterisk, I.E.: A "T38 Gateway" of sorts.

Which H.323 for Stable?
I'm new to H.323 and I have noticed that there are two separate channel
drivers for * available - the inbuilt one, and oh-323. I had trouble
compiling oh-323 with the current cvs stable, so I tried the inbiult one
(with specifiec recommended versions of openh323 and pwlib). It compiled
cleanly but I am told that it is not recommended (unstable?).
Can someone with first-hand * H.323

woomera doesn't work (same OpenH323 problem as with chan_h323)
Banging my head against a brick wall trying to get a working H.323
implementation for CVS-HEAD. (The ONLY H.323 I have had working is
OH323 v0.6.5 with CVS-STABLE - see my other post regarding compile
problems on OH323 for HEAD)
So, I thought, lets try this wonderful chan_woomera (dubbed "H.323
for Asterisk that works!").
I get exactly the same kind of problem as I have previously had with
the in-tree chan_h323. OpenH323 can't open an audio codec, and I have
a feeling it is because it is trying to mess around with devices.
See my previous post about this with...

Asterisk-cpu utilization > 60 %
Hi,
On 64 bit centos 5.6 I have virtualbox 4 and 64 bit elastix latest.
Since yesterday cpu utilization has been constantly peaking 65-75%. Hardly
1-2 concurrent calls. No other activity on server. Top shows asterisk on
top.
Its quad xeon server with 4 gb ram.
Any suggestion where should I start and how should I go about with my
investigation.
Thank you and have a great weekend.
