We murdered web applications with a chainsaw. Web 2.0 has too many security holes.

BgDRb blocking in ActiveRecord
Hi Folks,
I''ve got a tiny little problem using MySQL-backed ActiveRecord in my
worker class. Sometimes it just blocks infinitely when I try to
access it. I don''t know whether it is in AR itself or in the SQL
driver. It just stops doing anything, logging nothing, no exceptions
are raised. I don''t know if it matters that I call the worker''s
methods via

Problem to demote Samba4 DC
Hello,
I recently migrated our samba 3 domain to an AD domain using Samba 4
classic upgrade tool.
DNS is provided by the internal dns server of Samba 4.
I promoted a Windows 2k8 box as a new DC of this domain and I transfer
all the 5 FSMO roles to this windows box.
Now I would like to demote the Samba4 DC but when I tried I got this
message :
# samba-tool domain demote

ash replaced
I have pushed a new klibc which uses a modern NetBSD-derived ash. The
initial port was done by Olaf, and I've mostly applied the chainsaw to
it until it was less than 50% larger than the old one.
It's still substantially larger, but should also eliminate need for some
external binaries like expr and test, which are otherwise ubiquitous for
any sensible shell scripts, and perhaps most

Trend graph
Dear R Gurus,
I have a problem related to plot.
For example, I have two variables, pre and post.
pre <- c(1,2,3,4,5)
post <- c(2,5,7,2,3)
How can I plot a line graph similar to this one?

[LLVMdev] git Status Update?
To add to the social aspect, I can say from personal experience (as a
student/enthusiast developer) that contributing to open source projects that
use a decentralized SCM model (e.g. git) is easier than a centralized (e.g.
subversion) model. I can create a clone on github (or local, or wherever),
commit all that I want, then send pull requests or patches to the upstream
maintainers. With a

Festival Installation - Asterisk 1.0-RC2 && Debian Woody
Hey All,
Thought I'd take a bash at trying to get Festival to work here on my lab
system with the aim of using it to create our IVR menu prompts. I've
spent most of the afternoon searching through the Wiki, the Festival
website and Google and I've got a couple of questions.
First one is that the 'Asterisk+festival+installation' page on the Wiki
mentions the RedHat 9 RPMs

Acoustic boot-menu?
Hello,
I have a couple of headless workstations where it should be possible to boot
different OS-kernels.
Currently I use "MENU IMMEDIATE" and hotkeys which work fine.
However I do not really know when the boot sequence has reached the menu for
this purpose it would be nice to to ring a bell.
Any hint how to do this?

Aw: Dovecot - Postfix Calender Synchronisation
I can't say you are wrong ( you can better use a hammer.. ) but caldav
is more or less web based.
I like the approach in kolab ( store contact in mailboxes, it works with
dovecot, I have few server using it) but there is no usable client side
implementation. I tried to fix the synckolab plugin for thunderbird in
the past ( it works but i'm afraid some parts should be rewritten ) but

question about boosting(Adaboosting. M1)
HI, Guys,
I am trying to use the AdaBoosting. M.1 algorithm to integrate three models.
I found the sum of weights for each model is not equal to one.
How to deal with this?
Thanks, any response or suggestions are appreciated!

PCA and Regression
Hello,
I am currently analyzing responses to questionnaires about general attitudes. I have performed a PCA on my data, and have retained two Principal Components. Now I would like to use the scores of both the principal comonents in a multiple regression. I would like to know if it makes sense to use the scores of one principal component to explain the variance in the scores of another principal
