synchronizing Samba & Unix passwords

"passwd chat debug" on and run smbd at debug level 100.
Can anyone help me? How can I have the password program called without
using "unix passwd sync"? If I can't, then why is the smb.conf man
page written in the way it is?

I was able to also build sparky (http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/home/sparky/)
at -O4 under llvm-gcc-4.2 and llvm-g++-4.2 on darwin with minor patches...

NT, LINUX and device sharing

I am having LINUX RED HAT 5 and NT 4.0 on INTEL platform in network. I
want to share NT DAT tape device for backup. Can somebody help me in
this reagrd?
I have configured SAMBA on LINUX, what do I need to configure on NT to
use DAT tape.

Tru64 Unix vs. OpenSSH 2.9p2
Hi,
We installed OpenSSH 2.9p2 with OpenSSL 0.9.6b on our Compaq Alpha ES40
running Tru64 Unix 5.0a. We've been having problems where one of our
users appears in the output of "w" and is associated with a pseudoterminal
even though he has no processes attached to that pty.
The problem can be reproduced by connecting to the localhost host

smbpasswd backend, group-per-user, and primary gid not a domain group
After changing from 2.x to 3.0 I get these messages:
rpc_server/srv_util.c:get_domain_user_groups(376)
get_domain_user_groups: primary gid of user [fred] is not a Domain group !
get_domain_user_groups: You should fix it, NT doesn't like that
