Python and R
I've been doing some prototype simulations in Python, and my plan at
first was to pass the results off to R, but now I would like to make
more of an integrated use of the R routines. I'm curious about the
use of libR.so, but I'm uncertain, still after having looked through
the documentation 'Embedding R in Other Applications' and 'Writing R
extensions' how I can

PMML- Predictive model markup language
Hi all,
I caught a passing reference to PMML on the WEKA list (I think) .. an XML
way of communicating 'data mining models'. I am of the opinion that XML
is a 'good thing' and I would for instance like to see a standard XML way
of communicating the content and context of datasets (eg of timeseries)
but it has been a long day and my internet connection is slow and so I

graphics library fltk
we still do not have dynamic graphics in R natively.
i just found out about a widget library called fltk
info is at
www.fltk.org
it has all the stuff r currently can do only through tcl/tk or
(as i do it) excel: sliders, knobs, spinners and so on.
it is multiplatform, there are production versions for
unixen and windows, and there is a beta for macs.
this could be a way of getting some of

Image analysis in R?
As far as I can tell, there are no facilities in the "base" R for image
analysis. Is there any extension or package for R that implements
image analysis? I'm thinking of features such as
o Reading and writing image files,
o displaying indexed or "true color" images,
o resizing, cropping, etc, of images,
o filters for manipulating images (smoothing, edge detection, etc)

How do I track a segfault?
Dear R users,
I have to catch a nasty bug and would appreciate any advice or help!
I get a segfault (core dumped) that happens in one of my own functions.
The problem is, it
does not happen most of the time, only sometimes, so it's very hard to
reproduce. Or it may
run ok in interactive mode, but bug out in batch mode. Also, it tends to
happen more on
the slower of my 2 machines (PII 266),
