...nd Min, sorry for late reply, I was really busy in the past days. As Min already wrote, I have made the same experience unfortunately. With Rowland's suggested settings it didn't solve the problem. I'm on another issue at the moment and didn't find time to check the rsync/unison process on my own, but I'll promise I'll dive into it as soon as I can. The problem really is related in the "--delete..." parameter which is exactly doing what the manual of rsync describes perfectly. I have no idea how to fix it at the moment, but if you have more clues I'd apprecia...

Bin Laden was a frequent guest of honour at USA military bases in the US of A. Inoculation against illnesses is important. As for security, the cess pit is weak security not on Linux, BSDs and others etc. but on M$. It seems to be incredibly easy for one malicious person to launch attacks from machines they control all over the world - and those machines just happen to be running M$. Breaking into M$ machines seems to be t-o-o easy so I suspect...

Working Passwd Chat for Unix Password Sync on Redhat 6.1
...rning, so I'm happy. The FAQ section on the samba site was very helpful. The password sync was the only sticking point. The default passwd chat script didn't work well passwd chat = *New*UNIX*password* %n\n *ReType*new*UNIX*password* %n\n *passw d:*all*authentication*tokens*updated*successfully* I tried this one - but again no luck passwd chat = *(current)*UNIX*password:* %n\n *New*UNIX*password:* %n\n *Retype*new*UNIX*password:* %n\n *passwd:*all*authentication*tokens*updated*suc cessfully* I've seen some discussions about this not working on 2.2, is this the case? bug in parsing the 'username map' in 3.0.5pre1
...to be broken in 3.0.5pre1 and a few earlier releases. The '!' at the beginning of a line is ignored. Something like !lp = lp !chbeyer = chbeyer !guest = guest nobody = * doesn't work anymore :-( from the man page: [ snip ] If any line begins with an '!' then the processing will stop after that line if a mapping was done by the line. Otherwise mapping continues with every line being pro- cessed. Using '!' is most useful when you have a wild- card mapping line later in the file. [ snip ] best regards ~christoph -...

...The owner of this new Group Policy Object is 502. That is my domain user "foo" which I has assigned the NIS/UNIX attribute uid=502 to. The group is 500 which is the gid=500 of my domain group "Domain Admins".After 5minutes the sysvol-sync (unison+rsync) is syncing that object successfully to DC2. When I do "ls -lh" on DC2 I get the same output. So fine so good, everything works fine and as expected until now. Now we do the reverse thing. I create a new GPO on DC2. The file mode on DC2 looks like that: drwxrwx---+ 3 502 500 4,0K Nov 1 22:29 {A783C43A-9DCA-434...

Festival on RH9?
I'm about to download Festival source, apply the astrisk diff's, and initiate basic testing. Thoughts are to download v1.4.3 (latest per the fesitval website. If anyone has an existing how-to, install notes, tips, or any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it. Direct email is fine if you'd rather not post them. Thanks, Rich radamson@routers.com

[Bug 2317] New: sshd_config man page not clear on PermitUserEnvironment

The default is ?no?. Enabling environment pro?cessing may enable users to bypass access restrictions in some configurations using mechanisms such as LD_PRELOAD. What that sounds to me like is that enabling that option weakens the security in general. But after some googling I came...
