Stats Question: Single data item versus Sample from Normal Distribution
...d from a normal distribution N(mu,sigma). The alternate hypothesis is that x does not come from this distribution. However, I do not know the values of mu and sigma. I have a sample of size N from which I can estimate mu and sigma. So, say that I have N(m,s,N), and x. I would like to say with some certainty (e.g. 95%) that I can, or can't reject the hypothesis that x came from N(mu,sigma). I would also like a power test to say how large N should be given the degree of accuracy I need when accepting or rejecting individual x values. What is the name of the hypothesis test I need for this? Is it bu...

Interpretation of davies.test() in segmented package
...ing, in other words, the break point Use of segmented(): Segmented does a very good job of capturing the breakpoints and fitting three distinct slopes, i.e. linear models. It does not, however give me Pr(>|t|) for the break point coefficients. I need to answer the question H:0 Beta0=Beta with a certainty metric, i.e. probability statistic. This is especially important for my, flat looking data class. davies.test() question: davies.test() only excepts lm() or glm() objects as input. If I run segmented to find 1 breakpoint instead of 2, I get a totally bogus answer. Without knowing the breakpoints,...

[LLVMdev] So what's the deal with debug_frame V eh_frame
While comparing debug info between GCC and Clang I found a section that only Clang produces and GCC never produces: debug_frame. It seems (though I haven't verified this with absolute certainty) as though GCC just always uses eh_frame. LLVM on the other hand sometimes uses eh_frame and sometimes uses debug_frame. Here's an example: int f1(); int i = f1(); void func() { } Compiled with -fno-exceptions -g. The first two lines produce a global ctor. Clang is generous enough to flag...
