...#39;ve been playing with CentOS 5 on an i586 machine, and several people have displayed interest in the steps I've taken to compile a kernel and deploy it. I'm not quite sure where this would best go, so any guidance would be appreciated. Hi all. Decided to upgrade an old Slackware 10 box I had. The box is running a VIA C3 processor and apparently doesn't support the cmov extension that most i686 processors do. As a result I cannot install CentOS 5. I discovered a few posts from way back in April: http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2007-April/079352.html

Is possible to install Centos 5 on a 586 CPU? (cpu_type = 5) Thanks a lot.
