Mounting Floppies
Hi - daft one for Friday morning coffee break:
I have been trying to mount floppies on a couple of CentOS5 servers - the
usual "mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy" (yes, /mnt/floppy exists!).
On both servers, the mount command just doesn't come back and I have to hit
CTRL-C. I have tried different media and also changed the floppy drive on
one server, /dev/fd0 is seen as present on both

computers professionally).
The system is pretty-much "box stock" CentOS 6.6, but for adding gpm,
some KDE components, and plugins like flash player and "official" java
for Firefox and such.

Gnome-terminal's backslashes look like Ws with a horizontal line through -- how to get a backslash?
Hello!
I've just started trying gnome-terminal (instead of xterm) because of
its "tabbing" facility. However, I note that with it backslashes appear
something like a W with a horizontal line through it. Any known way to
get a backslash to appear as a backslash?
To see what I mean, use gnome-terminal with
echo '\'
in bash, ksh, etc.

I'm backing up to a NTFS partition on an external USB drive with dump. I'm
seeing failures in /var/log/messages reading sector 0xFFFFFFF that cause
the verify pass to fail. Are there any known problems in the USB driver?

CentOS 5 Evolution Update errors.
...as able to wget the docbook w/NP.
Any suggestions? Not critical, I only run evo on my 4.X. But I've begun
a slow and careful migration to my 5.0, letting it serve as back up for
now.
TIA

Adobe Flash Install Woes

SoI then copied the plugin directly into /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and
eliminated the symlink from the equation.
