High load since passing from rhas3 to centos4.8
We are migrating HP servers from RHAS3 to centos 4.8. Since, the load average is reaching really high values. Under usage we see loads of 15-20 instead of the 0.5-1.5 we were used to.
I searched a lot for information on such an issue. Iostat, vmstat, top, ps. But I don't get significant hint.
Cpu usage remains low, IO wait remains low, no disks are lagging, no swap usage.
Are there some tool

Question about running a CentOS4.8 (32-bit) guest under CentOS5.4xen (64-bit)
I am trying to run my old CentOS4.8 (32-bit) system as a guest system
under CentOS5.4xen (64-bit). I followed the instructions in Appendix A
of the xen user manual (/usr/share/doc/xen-3.0.3/pdf/user.pdf) and
created a 'disk image' (actually a 10gig LVM logical volume:
sauron.deepsoft.com% sudo fdisk -l /dev/mapper/sauron-c4guest
Disk /dev/mapper/sauron-c4guest: 10.7 GB, 10737418240

Making zh-tw subpages work
Dear Ralph,
Can you remove the following pages, which were incorrectly capitalized
during creation:
    * Manuals/ReleaseNotes/Centos5.3/ChineseTW
    * Manuals/ReleaseNotes/Centos4.8/ChineseTW
    * Manuals/ReleaseNotes/Centos4.7/ChineseTW
In addition, can you enable automatic redirection for non-existent zh-tw
pages?  Thanks!
Regards,
Timothy Lee

Increased memory usage between 4.8 and 5.5
I'm running into a memory problem when trying to switch some web servers
that are running centos4.8/x86_64 to centos5.5/x86_64. The new servers
running centos5.5 are using a decent amount more memory than the
centos4.8 servers.
Here's an example from top:
--- centos 5.5 ---
$ uname -a
Linux ws51 2.6.18-194.17.1.el5 #1 SMP Wed Sep 29 12:50:31 EDT 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Release Notes for CentOS 4.8
Good Morning!
"Was lange w?hrt wird endlich gut" - this is a german saying, meaning
"All good things are worth waiting for".
And yes, the waiting period on this was was long, very long, maybe too
long. But it is nearing: The release of CentOS 4.8 - we "just" had some
other things to attend to, first.
This means: We are in need of Release Notes again - and in need

Kernel panic due to vg00 not found while not using LVM at all
Hi,
I have a system running CentOS4.8.
Last month I installed the latest updates including kernel 2.6.9-89.0.23
and rebooted the system. It has been running for almost a month.
Last night I updated the system again which updated only a few packages:
openssl, tzdata, curl,vixie-cron and logrotate.
No new kernel or anything out of ordinary. The reboot after the update
stopped with kernel

ongoing problems with winbind since we rolled out RODCs
Hi there
We've been merrily chugging away with a large number (>30) of
samba-3.2.11 CentOS4.8 servers for some time now. Unfortunately in the
past two months our AD team has started replacing our Win2K3 domain
controllers with Win2K8 RODC (read-only DCs). As each site has been
migrated over to RODCs, the Samba server associated with that site has
started experiencing sporadic problems.
