serial vs console and serialonly
hi hpa, etal I found a patch against 2.06 that turned off console when serial was in use. http://centerclick.org/net4801/pxelinux/syslinux.patch This patch works, but appears to turn off the console unconditionally. I went to see how it would fit in 2.11, and it seems youve already started adding this feature. If so great, but how do I control it from a config-file ? I didnt see any new keywords. Al...

Is this a problem with pxelinux or a Soekris bios?
...ion files with hardware address and ip addresses as names) is very slow. When it boots up a linux kernel the console output becomes fine. When I was looking for the solution for this I found the link for the old version (2.06) of pxelinux.0, patched to work well with Soekirs boards: http://centerclick.org/net4801/pxelinux Is this a bug in the pxelinux.0 package or in Soekris boards? Is there any possibility to patch recent versions of pxelinux with similar patch? Regards, Rafa?

NOCONSOLE feature request not obsoleted by BIOS upgrade
...some. I currently use a version of pxelinux.0 that Dave Johnson posted a URL to. It does not output to the console, only serial. Jordan .. that link follows, its a patch against 2.06 ... I hacked up a pxelinux that works around this by only outputing to the serial port a while back: http://centerclick.org/net4801/pxelinux/

[patch] sshd with re-exec disabled causes stdin to get closed.
I ran into a bug while testing 3.9p1. If you start sshd with -r (re-exec disabled), once the daemon is forked to handle a client, the child closes stdin by accident. This causes FD 0 to get re-used by the next open call which eventually you end up with a mess. In the perticual case I saw, the pty fd ended up on FD 0 was closed by do_exec_pty(), pty_make_controlling_tty() then opened a new ttyfd

[patch] v1 empty pass with PAM disabled still prompts for pass fix.
Setup: ------ config.h: #define USE_PAM 1 sshd_config: PasswordAuthentication yes PermitEmptyPasswords yes UsePAM no ------ With the above config, and a user with no password, logging in with v2 gives no password prompt (because auth-method none works), but in v1, a password is still prompted for (empty is accepted though, just have to press enter). If UsePAM is enabled, no prompt is
