CentOS 7, skype ceased functioning
Hi, I have been using CentOS 7 on a laptop for a while now (about two years), using skypeforlinux all the time. After today's update, skype ceased to start as a service, as it used to be configured. It fails to start manually, e.g., it does start and is listed as a job, but it doesn't appear visible on the desktop. In the case you know something about it, please let us all know. Regards, [brn at hekuba ~]$ uname -a Linux hekuba.home...

H.323 Cease Fire
I usually try to stay out of flame wars, but I'd really like to just ask that this thread about H.323 be ended immediately unless there is substantial technical information to be contributed of value to the entire list. If anyone has any copyright issues related to the H.323 driver, they may address them to me via e-mail directly. Do *not* ask *me* any technical questions about H.323 :)

Heads up: End of RELENG_4_8 support
At the end of March, the RELENG_4_8 (sometimes called 4.8-SECURITY) branch will reach its designated End of Life and cease to be supported by the FreeBSD Security Team. Released in April 2003, FreeBSD 4.8 was the first release designated for "extended" two-year security support instead of the normal one-year support. Over this time, 27 security advisories have been issued which have affected FreeBSD 4.8....

Gnome weather applet stranded
The Gnome weather report applet has ceased working on CentOS5/6. http://weather.noaa.gov/ says "This service is no longer available". Are there any good alternatives? I liked the applet as it allowed the use of a custom radar map. As I just discovered, the weather functionality of the CentOS6 Gnome clock applet was using the sam...

Nightly builds of Debian packages
Hello, how is the future of the automatically built nightly debian packages of dovecot? Has that project been ceased? The current auto-built version is still 2.2.28 from April 28, though 2.2.29 (with a security patch) of dovecot is out now for a while. Regards Christoph

streaming ogg
We are finding that when we stream an ogg file via a .m3u file on our server, playing it with Winamp, pausing the player for an extended period of time results in unpredictable results, such as the file ceasing to play before EOF. Is this a Winamp issue, or is there something someone can tell me about streaming ogg in this manner? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was

static vs shared modules build

It works until you put some other vfs module in some share. Then it ceases to work, you have to declare it for all shares. This works: [global] vfs objects = acl_xattr [share] /some/path This does not work: [global] vfs objects = acl_xattr [share] /some/path vfs objects = recycle acl_xattr ceases to work for the share. The only way to make it work is to declare it...

unsolved: Re: solved: how to create a working certificate for using TLS?

No matter what I try, I can't create a certificate asterisk would verify. Is this a bug in 16.4, or how can I create a certificate that doesn't stop working randomly?

rtp problem with 1.8.0-rdc1
Hi. I am having a very strange problem --aren't they all -- with the release candidate. I have softphone which talks to asterisk from behind nat -- the asterisk is on a public ip -- and when I hit mute on the softphone, all rtp traffic ceases! Now, a version which does work is r281875, this does not happen in that vrsion, but right after that this strange thing starts and is not fixed in the current one. Any assistance here would be appreciated. -- Your life is like a penny. You're going to lose it. The question is: How do yo...

2TB Limit for Windows Shares?
I have noticed recently that Windows XP seems to stop writing into Linux/Samba shares once there is 2 TB of data in the share. Windows Explorer is happy to report that a share has 4.8 or 8 or 10 TB of space available, but Windows seems to cease writing into the share once there are 2 TB in it. Is this a known limitation of a) Windows or b) Samba or c) both? It certainly isn't a limitation of the filesystem I'm using. Andy Liebman

No pertinent log entries were made at the time either. Am I doing something stupid with this? -- Morten

Replacement tape drive configuration
CentOS 4.8 Hi All: We recently had a Sony SDX-500V tape drive fail on one of our servers running CentOS 4.8. I have now replaced it with a spare SDX-500C. The problem that I am having now is that the failed drive had ceased responding to SCSI commands and we have since rebooted the system which resulted in the tape drive being removed from our current hardware configuration and the system does not recognize the new tape drive. I know that I can just reboot the system and kudzu will add the tape drive back in during...

Postfix Question
...y accomplish the task. I've read through smatterings of postings from Neophasis and the like searching for just the syntax and what file (I assume it's main.cf) I should be using; however, any smtpd_ lines I have tried result in postfix hanging and refusing to deliver mail. I could simply cease using smarthost, but my ip address is dynamic (yes I know stop yelling at me I'm poor right now) so mail bounces to some domains if I don't use smarthost. The server I'm running postfix on is CentOS 4 (fully updated). Postfix version is 2.2.10-1.1.el4 (from rpm -qa). I have not had suf...

winbindd with LDAPS
...stration is closing port 386 on the password server and only allowing requests on 636 (ldaps). I don't seem to be able to change the winbindd to use the ldaps port. Tried ldap ssl = start tls ldap ssl ads = yes tls enabled = yes but both the net join and the ntlm_auth go to port 386 and will cease to work as soon as that is disabled. Winbindd only works on 389 or am I missing something? Thank you.

Problems with zaptel and voice prompts/voicemail
...this. I apologize if this has been discussed already or is buried somewhere in voip-info.org. I have an asterisk setup on linux 2.6.11.11 kernel, a revision E/F TDM400P, and Polycom IP501 phones. As soon as I load the zaptel module into the kernel, the voice prompts and voicemail system ceases to work. The asterisk logs say that the gsm files are being played, but nothing comes out on the other end. This is for both calls coming in via our VoicePulse Connect lines, or when dialing locally from our SIP phones. As soon as I rmmod the zaptel driver, asterisk acts just fine. T...
