Re: Multiple client access same file
...CD-writing HOWTO for details
or other flags you might need)
vi /etc/fstab
(add a line like this:)
/place/where/you/store/iso/files/cdrom1.iso
/samba/share/cdrom1 iso9660 loop=/dev/loop1
(all on one line)
mount /samba/share/cdrom1
Do the same for your other CDs, except you're using
/samba/share/cdrom2 and /dev/loop2, and so on.
Finally, write shares in /etc/samba/smb.conf:
[cdrom1]
path=/samba/share/cdrom1
[cdrom2]
path=/samba/share/cdrom2
...
You can get fancy with fstab mount options like
gid=sambausers and put everyone in this group for
read-only. umask=227 will give r-xr-x--- perms to
eve...

Simple Samba
I have simple needs, as I am my only user. I am in transition between
Linux and Windows. I need to get Samba running. I DO NOT need any
security between machines (except to the internet.) I have certain
hardware requirements that forces me to keep Windows a little longer,
some day soon I will be able to afford to make the last changes. In the
mean time I need to move and store my "My

I'm running Windows XP SP2 and having a real bad time with it.
I cannot login on boot up and I cannot see the server from the PC. I can only map a drive to the server from the DOS prompt using "net use".
Thanks

Gigabyte recent bios & syslinux extlinux trow USB-IDE bridges or pendrives
...my example without making nothing, borrow some Linux Live distro and
over there plug your usb device and execute dmesg 10 seconds later to see the
device name assigned, for example if it was sda then, if my raw file provided
into a zip file is on another CD unit, try something like:
dd if=/media/cdrom2/memtest_usbhdd.raw of=/dev/sda it will overwrite the
device doesn't matter if is a 40GB real hard drive over USB or if is a usb
stick about 64MB or more, it will allways should boot, and you'll see a nice
boot with memtest on it, checking your ram, as I said if I downgrade bios
versions...
