Compiling kernel-2.6.13...
Hi. I'm trying to use CentOS4.2 for some audio work (ie. sound editing, etc.). I found a site called PlanetCCRMA (http://ccrma.stanford.edu/planetccrma/software/) and decided that I would give some of their applications a try (hoping that it would not affect my system greatly!). At first I tried the Fedora 3 packages (and they do work), but what I really wanted to do is to download the source packages and re...

Audio Resampling Library Suggestions?
Can anyone recommend a good library for performing audio downsampling? I intend to start playing around with "libresample" (http://ccrma-www.stanford.edu/~jos/resample/README-libresample-0.1.3.txt), as well as taking a look at "Secret Rabbit Code" (http://www.mega-nerd.com/SRC/), but I'd love some opinions before I get too involved with either. Free would be best, but I'm open to commercial options. Any suggestio...

Offtopic: improving softphone latency on Linux?
...rious why there is that difference. Clearly, Messenger is more tightly integrated with the OS and accordingly tuned. So where does this time go? Kernel? Application level? Web searches seem to suggest that sound latency generally is a problem on Linux, so I tried the low latency kernel from http://ccrma.stanford.edu/planetccrma/software/planetccrma.html (there are two kernels, actually, where I only got the stable version to boot - bleeding edge didn't do on my machine). Still, that kernel did not really improve things in a noticeable way. Question hence: did some of you guys experience and...

dsync mbox->mdbox II: highest_modseq changed
...es dsync was able to sync all of the 30+GB mailstore to mdbox. Now the (repeated) calling of dsync yields info messages of the kind dsync(athimm): Info: old/speicher: highest_modseq changed: 1 != 10 dsync(athimm): Info: root/root-heretic: highest_modseq changed: 1 != 10 dsync(athimm): Info: lists/ccrma.stanford.edu/planetccrma: highest_modseq changed: 11 != 14 I actually have 987 such messages for a total of 1115 mboxes. I checked a couple of them to see whether this is a CRLF issue and found no CRLF, so it's probably something different. As long as the mboxes were still being delivered to...

Request: temporal windows
Dear list, I am looking for different window functions used in perceptual audio coding. In the mp3 format, these windows overlap with each other, but I haven't found any information about their mathematical expression, nor their numerical values (see attached document). Which temporal windows are used in ogg audio coding? Thank you very much in advance. Kind regards, ------ Fernando A.

Installing IMA (Integrity Measurement Architecture) on CentOS 5.5
I'm trying to install IMA (http://linux-ima.sourceforge.net/) on CentOS 5.5, but the shipped kernel does not support it. One solution is to install a 2.6.30 kernel, but I don't really like this idea. Does anybody has tried to install it? Regards, Andreas

Help request: Wine + alsa on 64-bit Fedora 12
...wine. So question is this: is there an easy way to make alsa or oss show up in wine32 winecfg in Fedora 12 64-bit? Or am I better off switching completely to a 32-bit installation (which I'm also considering for other reasons.) Other possible problem causers are that I'm using the Planet CCRMA kernel, and I have 3 sound cards, but I figure these should only cause problems between alsa and hardware (and they have, and I've fixed/workedaround them), not between wine and alsa. Thanks, Walker

celtenc 0.11.1 not generating encoded file on OSX Lion
Hi, I am running celt 0.11.1 on my mac which is running osx lion. I invoke celt such as so: celtenc original.wav output.oga I do not see any files being encoded, the wave file is stereo 16 bit at 44.1kHz. Any ideas on why this is not working? I also tried the opus git repo for the latest sources, but that also does not produce an encoded file. Thanks -- -baeksanchang -------------- next

Gigabit Throughput too low
Hi I was wondering if you ever got better performance out of your Gigabit/IDE/Fc2? I am facing a similar situation. I am running FC2 with Samba 3.x My problem lies in not that I am limited to 10 MBytes per second sustained. I think it's related to this pdflush and how it's buffers are setup. (I have been doing some research and before 2.6 kernels bdflush was the method that was used and
