[nbdkit PATCH 1/2] sh, eval: Cache .can_zero and .can_flush
In commit c306fa93ab and neighbors (v1.15.1), a concerted effort went into caching the results of .can_FOO callbacks, with commit messages demonstrating that a plugin with a slow callback should not have that delay magnified multiple times. But nothing was added to the testsuite at the time, and with the sh and eval plugins, we still have two scenarios where we did not take advantage of the

[nbdkit PATCH 0/2] More caching of initial setup
When I added .can_FOO caching in 1.16, I missed the case that the sh plugin itself was calling .can_flush twice in some situations (in order to default .can_fua). Then right after, I regressed it to call .can_zero twice (in order to default .can_fast_zero). I also missed that .thread_model could use better caching, because at the time, I did not add testsuite coverage. Fix that now. Eric Blake

[PATCH] btrfs: use kmalloc for lzo de/compress buffer
The size of de/compress buffer and LZO1X_MEM_COMPRESS is small enough. Allocating it with kmalloc rather than vmalloc is preferred. This patch depends on my previous patch, “btrfs: fix decompress buffer size”. v1 was here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2018-December/thread.html#00123 v2: - Document "-" instead of "script=-" and use it in the test; and verify this also works on FreeBSD; and verify that it doesn't depend on the particular behaviour of our wrapper script and should work with installed nbdkit too. - Fix handling of zero flags parameter. -

[PATCH 0/4] nvfx: rework render temps code and fixes
This patch series silences some unknown cap warnings and fixes up coding style (patch 1+4). The most important part of this series are the two patches in the middle. They rework the state_fb code, so that we are able to render to not 64 byte aligned targets, as this is the only real use-case for render temporaries this allows us to drop temp code completely and simplifies a lot

I'm guessing that > the initial assumption was that if there is a color buffer it must be at > cbuf[0]. Because I cleared the cbufs separately in a for loop below (the 0x3c == the RGBA mask). The first RT may not have been there, and that seemed simpler than the thing that I have now (as evidenced by the code I have now which has more complex logic). > > The corrected version in your github branch looks alot better, it &...

[nbdkit PATCH 6/9] sh: Implement .cache script callback
It's easy to expose new callbacks to sh plugins. I have no idea how any plugin would actually usefully cache anything in shell (you can't really store it in a shell variable, since a new shell process is started for each command); but if nothing else, this allows a user to implement .can_cache returning true to bypass nbdkit's normal fallback to .pread. The shell plugin, coupled with

[nbdkit PATCH v2 07/24] sh: Implement .cache script callback
It's easy to expose new callbacks to sh plugins, by borrowing tri-state code from can_fua. It's possible that nbdkit emulate will actually work well (in our example.sh script, the kernel caching a pread from one dd invocation may indeed speed up the next access), but for the sake of the example, I demonstrated advertising a no-op handler. The shell plugin, coupled with Rich's work on
