Mixed Logit model mlogit error
I am new to R but I have managed to use mlogit to run multivariate logit models successfully. My data violates the Independence of Irrelevant Alternatives assumption and now I would like to run a mixed logit model. It is a "wide" data set with 9 independent (individual) variables and three choices (variable Y). The database is in a cvs file called CAU. This is the code I have run

IP traffic accounting and shorewall
Hi, I need a suggestion about how to set up a shorewall configuration so that I can log the traffic size being downloaded through a shorewall dedicated box. I need to log time, source IP, size of the transfer, protocol(s) and ports, destination IP (looking from inside the LAN, I mean :-) Whenever possible, I''d like to resolve the source IP with our existing internal DNS, so that I

Announcing FreeBSD 2.0.5 ALPHA!
It gives me great pleasure to announce the release of FreeBSD 2.0.5-ALPHA! 2.0.5A represents a significant improvement over FreeBSD 2.0R and is our release-candidate for 2.0.5R later on this week. We're doing a short ALPHA release in order to shake out any glaring bugs before rolling 2.0.5R and moving on to 2.1R, which is the bigger goal. If you're looking for 2.1R, then THIS ISN'T

Winbind group membership not updating
We are currently in the process of replacing some of our file servers with Active Directory joined Samba servers. However, during testing we have noticed behaviour that has caught us off guard. Changes in user group membership in AD do not show up on our file servers. Specifically, changing a user's groups in AD won't affect group membership on the Samba server once the user has

Passive OS fingerprinting and conditional firewalling
Hi all, there''s an interesting citaton on kerneltrap.org, mentioning the addition of passive OS fingerprinting to the OpenBSD firewall (http://www.kerneltrap.org/node/view/770 for those interested) This new feature enables the possibility of triggering customized firewall rules according to the (detected) incoming OS, in a fully passive way. I was wondering if the above would be

Cloning a ZFS compact flash card
I need some help please. I am currently using a compact flash as the boot drive (ZFS) on a thumper. I want to create a clone of it to a file and restore it to a new CF card on another thumper. Unfortunately, an exact make, model and size of the CF has a few less cylinders so a straight dd of the slice2 does not work. Now I have to navigate the intricacies of the trying to clone rpool etc, which

Reshape package and variable assignment
R Experts, I would like to create a series of variables without having to assign a separate line of code for each new variable. My abbreviated dataframe (DF) contains two groups of linked variables (SP1:SP3) and (CAU1:CAU3). Within SP1:SP3 are character codes (full dataframe contains 26 unique codes and SP1:SP9, CAU1:CAU9). CAU1 represents the quantitative measurement of code x in variable

System freezes completely under kernel 2.6.18-128.7.1.el5
Hello, is there a known problem with the new kernel for CentOS 5.3? Till today, my server works without any problems. But after updating to the new kernel 2.6.18-128.7.1.el5 the system freezes completely with no more access by keyboard or over network. The last message in /var/log/messages is 'Aug 25 14:07:41 weidenwinde kernel: hdg: dma_timer_expiry: dma status == 0x21'. I have not

tripwire alternative
Hello all, Years ago, I used to work with tripwire for system monitoring. Last time I checked with "yum search tripwire", there is no hit. IIRC, it used to be packed by default on older Redhat distros. Any suggestion for an alternative of tripwire for my CentOS 5.6? Self-locking files...
Hi, I've set up a samba server (2.2.7) on a Mandrake 9 (2.4.16xxx on X86); everything works fine, except a little recurring problem: *very* often, clients are forbidden to save the document(s) they've open ("locked file"); it's enough to modify one char of the filename and the save goes fine, of course with another name... I verified the problem, and also verified that

Linux rcp bug

Winbind group membership not updating
Hai, Now you have overlapping id's. idmap config *:range = 1000 - 99999 I suggest, leave some room for your "linux users" Like : idmap config *:range = 2000 - 99999 In addition, also, run : net cache flush And run : systemctl stop winbind sleep 1 systemctl start winbind Then.. what does : id Administrator Tells you now. And id someOtheruser? Now

Problems running samba in vmware
I have used samba for nearly 9 years with no problems and we have about 20 users. In the past we have had a dedicated samba server. We have recently virtualized this server to a quad core Q6600 using vmware virtual server 1.0.4 on a 64 bit host running ubuntu 7.10. As part of the virtualization I installed samba 3.0.26a in ubuntu 7.10. Since this has happened users have complained about

Winbind group membership not updating
Hej, There are no Linux users (above 1000 that is), and there never will be. net cache flush does absolutely nothing. I've already suspected that the version might be at fault and checked 4.7.0 with the same result. I suspect the problem is not a bug per se, but an architectural problem with how sessions are constructed. As far as I can tell, group membership is resolved once at the

Not real confident in 3.3
I do not mean to be argumentative, but I have to admit a little frustration with Gluster. I know an enormous emount of effort has gone into this product, and I just can't believe that with all the effort behind it and so many people using it, it could be so fragile. So here goes. Perhaps someone here can point to the error of my ways. I really want this to work because it would be ideal
